CBA713
Hi again friends. I'm pretty new to the Gibson acoustic world, but I am sure that I want one. And perhaps I'm totally wrong, but I can't seem to find any standard Gibson acoustics that aren't acoustic-electric. I'd really like just a straight up, tried-and-true Gibson acoustic guitar, but without any electronics of any kind. Purely acoustic. I know there is the True Vintage series, but why isn't there anything like just a straight-up J-45 offered? I'd gladly pay $2,000 for my own brand new J-45, I just don't want any electric BS inlcluded. Has it been this way for a while? My only need is a 24 3/4" scale neck, which is why I've been looking at 45s, 50s, SJs, and CWs. Why doesn't Gibson offer standard true acoustics? Please tell me I'm wrong. davenumber2
The Advanced Jumbo doesn't have a pickup in it. Or you could buy a Standard J-45 and just remove it? Edit: just saw you needed a short scale so guess the AJ is out.
CBA713
The Advanced Jumbo doesn't have a pickup in it. Or you could buy a Standard J-45 and just remove it? I think it's $2,500 for a new AJ? For that price, I'd just go the little bit extra and get a True Vintage Southern Jumbo, which would be my ideal anyway. I'm not the kind of guy that would be able to remove a pickup anyway, and wouldn't want to spend the extra money on it. I'm a bit of a luddite, and would rather just buy a guitar with a purpose that is totally acoustic. C
Yorick
Hi CBA, You might check with your nearest 5 star dealer--they often have special runs of guitars built to vintage specs. I think the recent trends for the "standard" is that they have internal pickups. I would love an SJ myself--I play a J 50. Used TVs do appear from time to time. The J 45 TV is quite popular. Thanks friend. There is one about an hour away from me in SE Michigan. http://www2.gibson.com/Support/Dealers/North-America/United-States/Michigan/Huber-Breese-Music.aspx I'll have to check it out soon.
