nonsuchpro
Hello all. I recently purchased a new Les Paul 60's tribute with Min-E Tune. I love the way it plays and sounds but It wont stay in tune. The Min-E Tune gets a lot of use. What should I look into to fix this? The nut and bridge? Normally I can hear when a string gets stuck somewhere when it "tings" during tuning but I can't on this guitar so I don't know where the problem is coming from. If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Left to my own devices, I would start with changing the nut to a graphite or similar, but maybe I don't need to do that. Thanks in advance! lblack
You said new. That could mean that your guitar is still getting adjusted to its new home -- humidity and temperature, etc. Give a few weeks and see if it settles down. After about a month or two, take it in to your local shop and have a setup so that any fine tweaking can be done. I found that my new ES335 that I bought a few months ago took a few weeks to settle down, but now it stays in tune very well. I keep it in its case so I try to minimize abrupt changes in temperature and humidity. My Les Paul Studio 60's tribute (2011 pre-raid model) also took a few weeks to settle down, and it too stays in tune now too.
Aymara
Let's start with the most obvious problem ... you didn't mention it ... did you already replace the factory strings with a fresh set? If yes, which ones and which gauge? I especially ask this, because though my factory strings looked pretty new, I had buzzing with the G-string, which was gone after replacing the strings with a fresh set of Gibson Bright Wires in .10 gauge ... same as factory set. nonsuchpro
It's about a month old now and I have not replaced the factory strings yet. I guess that's the first thing I should have done. It came with 9's and I usually like 9's for bending. My G string sounds ok and I don't have any buzzing, it just wont stay in tune like my other guitars. I will change the strings and give it more time before I start modding. Thanks! Rob

Aymara
THIS I will change the strings and give it more time before I start modding. I also planned switching to .9, but to avoid buzzing issues (I like very low action), I decided to try the following first: Gibson Bright Wires in .10 I highly recommend to try these ... great sound, no buzzing and they play like butter, as we say in Germany, be it bending or sliding. Much better than the different strings I tested before on my Epi. I'll stay with these strings on both of my LPs, the Epi and my new Gibson. PS: After changing the strings you might find THIS (<- click) helpful.
