greenthi102
So I just bought a J-45 Custom it has a lighter tobacco burst yet it has all the same inlays and pick guard as the amber burst. Is this a factory messup?
j45nick
I doubt it. Bursts come in a variety of shades and shading patterns. "Amberburst", as I understand it, means a burst where the darkest part is lighter than the darkest part of a traditional burst, almost as if it had faded in the sun. Some like it, others prefer a traditional burst. I don't think one particular type of burst is necessarily "native" to a custom vs. a standard J-45. Smurfbird
They're Gibsons. Never apply rhyme or reason. Always expect exceptions to the rule and enjoy!
Triumph1050
My new CS 60s Reissue is spec'd as a Heritage Cherry burst.... but its a Honeyburst if I e ever seen one. And im fine with that. Gibson quirkiness...
greenthi102
I've heard they mix match the fingerboard wood and the bridge woods sometimes too. It definitely makes every guitar unique, which is a good thing!
fortyearspickn
Congrats and welcome! The J45 Custom is a really great guitar, shading and hues are like fingerprints, they make each one look unique, but have nothing to do with what makes it a unique instrument. Enjoy!
