Rabs
So I got a new camera as my old one was dying.. Nothing exciting or expensive, just a little cannon compact.. So I though it would be cool to get some new pics of the babies :) Its always hard getting good shots of guitars, especially of flamed tops. Its not a big collection (I had 9 Gibbys at one point) but I love them all, and all im really missing as a nice semi-hollow body (a 336 if I can ever afford it ;)) Lets see your shots of your LPs.. Its always good to see the collections out there.. So heres the big daddy. A 2002 LP Classic 1960 re-issue.. Man this guitar is a beast and weighs a ton (well about 11 lbs actually ;)) Has a nice subtle plain top Then we have the 2008 Standard (made in 2011).. This was a total impulse buy. Ive always wanted a wine red flamey top and don't regret it for a second. And really like the asymmetrical neck on this (very similar to a 60s but more tapered) I love the way you can see the flame and the grain going the opposite way Then a 2011 60s Tribute Goldtop.. Man I love this thing, I never thought id have a Goldtop but the sound and playability is just spot on with this one (rosewood board, light back, pre-raid) Then last but not least my most fun guitar. A 2005 LP Double Cut Special.. This one I got about 4/5 years ago second hand and had to re-finish the top as someone had sanded it down. But it was a bargain and I LOVE this guitar (my only second hand one).. DOUBLE CUTS RULE!!!! Then a family shot :) So lets see what you all got ;)

This one shows a couple of the gadgets but forgot to put out my cheapo 80 buck pawn shop Squire,,, which I set up and actually really really like alot. It gets lots of play time and I drag it all over the place cuz I didn't pay much for it. Gotta have those..lol. And with the cheapo Squire. btoth76
Congratulations to all of You! Very nice collections! My favorite is Quapman`s creamy Custom and Rabs` tobacco Classic. Looking at Donny`s Classic Custom makes me feel lucky to have one of them too! What a guitar! The Partsocaster is beautiful too! I am surprised! Cheers... pippy
Well, I got the 'Brownie' out as mentioned. Setting it to full-automatic in full sunshine seemed to do some VERY odd things to the colours... I'm sure the combination of pure blue sky and pink lid-lining didn't exactly help! Poor Camera must have O/D'd....lol! Anyhow, FWIW, here are a couple of snaps of each Paul, starting with 'Oldest First'. 1991 '1960 Classic' - 'Treacle'; 1993 1959 Re-Isuue - 'Jam'; 1995 1960 Re-Issue - Marmalade; 1995 '1960 Classic' - Honey; P. BigKahune
. @Pippy - Love seeing those. Man you've got some beautiful guitars. I've currently got a couple Les Pauls. This is my Les Paul Push Tone - For those of you that remember Guitar of the Month, it was the GOTM May 2008. In times gone by Gibson used to supply their best dealers with demo pickups setup for a special non-production guitar that could quick swap pups. You simply push the pup out the back, unplug it, plug in the swap and push it in from the back - less than a minute. If you were going in to try out pups, you could compare them in the same guitar/amp setup. Anyway, Gibson made a production model of that idea for one of the GOTM runs. I've got a pair of Burstbucker Pros and a pair of P-94s for it. My favorite setup is BBPro in the bridge and P-94 in the neck. I'm looking for high output set for it, maybe Dirty Fingers. I also have an Epi Ultra II. I liked the nanomag pup, very nice. Along with the price - no worries taking it anywhere. . B) .
pippy
Thanks for the nice words, Rabs and BK. Just some more of the same old same old, though. I've currently got a couple Les Pauls. Is it still possible to pick up (pun) p'ups for the push-tone, BK, or are they very sought after accessories? Or conversely can any p'up be mounted in the holder for comparison purposes?.... P. BigKahune
. Gibson didn't make extra brackets available. Seems their idea was to provide a bucker and a single coil setup (4 pups). We had a small network of owners that got a luther over in Germany to make some up, but that was in 2009. Some owners have made their own brackets. The setup is for 2 conductor pups and yes, you can mount whatever pup you want on the bracket. There's little magnets in the bracket route that hold them in place (no screws). Too bad Gibson didn't run off extra brackets, they would've sold them all. Still, 4 is enough to go with. My tastes change occasionally and I just have my current favorites mounted. . pippy
Its so hard to get a picture of chrome but it has chrome metal archtop pickup rings and toggle washer with black tip. I can sympathise completely. Chrome on High-Gloss Black = Nightmare for a photographer. The trick with photographing chrome/silver is it has to reflect white/very light grey and preferably a little black to look chrome. All-white reflections will simply make it look white; not silver. But the problem with chrome on black is that the same reflector which works for the chrome will also reflect in the black making it wash out. Without resorting to Photoshop it's always going to be a compromise situation. ...Ok I just got back from rehearsal and the 498t helped so much, really pushed this thing over the edge....It sounds like ZZ Top on steroids now lol very Southern Fried ;) WOW! I thought 'Texas Barbecue' especially sounded exactly like that before the arrival of the 498. I can only imagine how it sounds now ! ! ! Good Stuff, Donny ! P. btoth76
Hello Donny! Nice pictures! What I was thinking, if I would remove the pickup covers, I`d add the Schaller`s chromed inner pickup frames, to make it look cleaner. It conceals the tape on the windings, which is - usually - not a pretty sight. http://tonabnehmer.biz/hp135083/Pickup-Gehaeuse.htm What do You think? Cheers... Aymara
What do You think? I'm planning the same, but will Rockinger (<- click) covers instead, which are better ... "German Silver" and the inner edges are more round, not so rectengular as the Schaller. Here's an image of the Schaller for comparison:
btoth76
Hello! More likely, the Rockinger covers the pickup better. Actually, I was wondering about that: does the Schaller leaves small open spots at the corners, or not. Thanks for the suggestion! Cheers...
