saturn
This is the guitar my wife wanted to get me for our anniversary last month, but it had been sold by the time she went to get it. So she got me a little amp (THR10) instead. Then the person who bought the guitar, returned it to GC just like the employee said he would. So she put enough down to hold it on layaway until she picked it up for me today. She even got them to throw in a Roadrunner hard case too. It caught my eye in the used section, and when I played it I was really impressed. I'm normally a traditional Les Paul, Stat, Tele type of guy, but I wanted to get something a little different this time. It appears the original owner replaced the stock bridge humbucker with a Seymour Duncan, and what I assume to be the stock pickup was also in the case. I was impressed by that because I would have not even thought to ask about the original pickup being included. I guess GC aint so bad sometimes. Izzy
Man, that is sweet. Mosyt people's NGD's don't do much for me, because I already have what everyone gets, but THIS one is different and awesome. It has the tele lipstick and a HB at the bridge...is that hole deep enough to make a difference in ressoncance? That guitar looks thin. It is VERY pretty, I will say that. What's it sound like? Grats on the new girl!!! Your wife rocks!
pippy
I remember checking it out when you posted the 'Nearly' thread and liking it then and I still like it! Will you be putting the stock p'up back in to see how it sounds or will you leave the SD in place? And give your wife a big hug. She deserves one! P. saturn
Hey thanks guys (and ladies :) ). It's a chambered mahogany body, so it does have a slight "hollow" sound when played unplugged. I think the hole is more for show really though. Pluged in, I don't notice any difference to a solid body electric. I read that the stock pickup is very hot. So I'm kinda glad the SD is in there. I probably won't put the stock p/u in unless I find a problem with the SD. I'm not much a "tinkerer" just for the sake of tinkering. Here it is... My wife said this was my next anniversary gift too, so don't expect something next year.
saturn
A couple other notes on this axe: It has 24 frets, but I don't see myself playing up that high too often. The 23rd fret is "dead" so I guess a little seyup might be in order. It plays great up and down the neck other than that one fret, which I'm not too worried about. Also the neck is really thin. I generally like my fat 50s Les Paul neck, but will get used to playing a thin neck again. My old Strat had a thin neck but not like this. Some would call it a "fast" neck. krock
Usually Jaguar type guitars do nothing for me but this is so pretty, even the sides look great. I've heard them on youtube before and thought they were very Gretsch/ telecaster sounding which is never a bad thing
saturn
Jay! You'll be rocking Charm City with that thing. . How's that lipstick tube sound? Yeah Ken. Hopefully I will get to play her at a few gigs this summer. The lipstick pickup sounds very Tele'ish.

brundaddy
Cool guitar - looks kinda like a Charvel Surfcaster, which is very sought-after & also came with lipstick pickups. Looks nice & twangy!

bonzoboy
She's a beauty, congrats. That body shape is really cool because it's so unique,I bet she sounds like nothing else, with the lipstick tube and Duncan humbucker pickup configuration she should have a tone that's unique and her own signature sound, especially with both pups combined.
