flatbaroque
Bit of a dark song based on dark subject matter. Can't say I love it but at least I finished it.Cheers its never Halloween in Snowtown plain wrapped darkness all the time there’s a barrel with your name on and a bank vault full of crying wasteland, waste not, red rain, cold shot smells like voodoo out on main street bad ju-ju rolling down the drain Big Wolf wants to kick some doors in Shark is on the prowl again All around the kitchen courtroom Revenge is bragged and tagged and stained on the fingers of the players With their skin pressed in the game and talk is cheap between the wheatbelt and the wire suburbs sliding off the map sleep now kid tomorrow’s coming quickly clear those bottles off of mummy’s lap You play nature I’ll raise you nuture You throw down evil I’ll raise you good Can I see the deck your holding Was it marked since childhood? Bad seeds plant deep We sow, they creep Dia de los meurtos Doesn’t translate all too well No carnival in Snowtown Just bog ordinary hell Waste land, waste not Red rain, cold shot Never Halloween in Snowtown Plain wrapped darkness evermore And somewhere too far in the distance Some creator’s keeping score
fumblefinger
Yikes FB! Sterling effort on such a subject. Can't say that I love it but I'd say this proves that you're the real deal when it comes to being a song writer. For our non Oz members Snowtown is infamous for several bodies found in barrels in an old bank vault
EuroAussie
Good effort there FB, topic pretty close to me I guess as I grew up in the same suburb in the northern suburbs of Adelaide where they found a number of the bodies !
flatbaroque
Thanks boys. Was a strange subject. Not sure how I started writing that one.I really only put it on youtube cause my daughter passed through there on a road trip to Coober Pedy on the weekend...so i uploaded it for her to see.Probably could have been left in the drawer....bit too much of a downer. EA I knew you were an Adelaide lad but didn't realise you were not far from those goings on!

Mojorule
The poker-derived metaphor relating to the old environmental versus genetic debate is ace, Flatters. Go for broke!
flatbaroque
Cheers KB, thanks for listening. And Mojo appreciate your erudite observation.I knew a man who lives his life as a deep dark metaphor would have no trouble spotting that one -at least you didn't call me a joker! Having now read up on the background to this song, I can see why you might avoid reference to spades at this point. Not exactly Neighbours or Home and Away.
