Guitars that speak to you!

As many of you know, I like my 'vintage Gibsons'....IE; don,t own any Bozeman acoustics or non-Kalamazoo electrics....at this time. I have 'about 10 gits......After work today, I went up to the music room to 'chill' and first tuned and plugged in the '55 LPjr.....miserable, at best! Next pulled out the '57 CF100E and...[razz] amazingling it was in full tuning and sounding like a million bucks....even with its dead-*** strings! What an inspiration [thumbup]

The CF100E would be my island guitar...especially without electricity....

What should I do with the rest of my guitars before the end of the world happens????

Should I put them up for sale on the Trading Post, or give them to the most 'needy' American or illegal alien???

Hey Rod, when you decide the end of the world is at hand, let me know, and I'll take your late-40's SJ off your hands.

If I can get a couple of days of playing in before the Rapture, I'll already be in heaven.......

Wow man, you went out there to the logical conclusion part! I've been having those kinds of thoughts lately too. But first of all, the island ain't gonna have electricity because no one ran the line there (and even if someone did it's the end of the world, remember?), or as Dylan said, "the pump don't work cause the vandal stole the handle." I plan on giving my guitars away to deserving souls that play that could use a better instrument. And if someone comes to me hungry I plan on giving them food rather than shooting them, because that fear and violence mentality is the very thing that's brought us to the end of this world kind of thinking in the first place. But it isn't that time yet, so play on.

I'll take that '55 Junior off your hands if you don't like it. I'll even pay for shipping!

Hey Nick....maybe your 'senior eyes' need attention. I wrote 'needy' American....NOT 'greedy' American. [laugh]

Don't think anyone has ever accused me of being greedy before, Rod. I'm always needy when it comes to guitars!

You guys all sound like you know each other, hope you don't mind if a new guy jumps in. I see my own mortality approaching though a long way off yet, and I have had the same thoughts. I love my guitars and want them to have a good home when I am gone. For years, I have been encouraging my nieces and nephews and my good friends kids to start playing and keep playing. A few of them are digging in, and they will get the goodies when my time comes. A little part of me will be remembered each time they play, and maybe they will tell their kids a story or two about me.

I've only got one grand-nephew who plays, and he's more of a rocker right now. He's been after his dad for a nice amp, so I just gave him a nice fat check for high school graduation to buy one. Of course, I may be abetting him in a career path that his parents may not want him to take.....

We'll see if he sticks with it. I've got a couple of pretty awesome ES-335's that might come his way if he does.

You are too kind to your nephew, Nick!

I was shocked to find a young nephew of mine interstate currently has a roomful of all kinds of strange shaped (mainly Rock) guitars and a car that looks like it could do the 1/4 in 3.3 secs....and my guitar-hating accountant brother (my fault) must be just plain filthy....
