Gibson LG-0

The reason you haven't gotten any response here is that the LG-0 just doesn't cut it. Hate to say it but I can, as an owner, put my money where my mouth is. The tone is dull and the neck is so small it is difficult to play. Best perhaps for young students with small hands ... it's target back in the '60s. If you like solid hogs, look at the Martin 15 series....

That is a late 40ies Gibson BR-9 lap steel. Guess back in the days they thought this was a futuristic design. It's a fun little toy, wish I kew a little better how to play it.

Regarding a LG-0 reissue, I guess it'll be cheaper to pick up an original from the 60ies. Even if it needs some work to be done, it'll be almost cheaper than a reissue.

And, well, guess there's really not so much love for this ladder braced little boxes.

I have my 1958 Gibson LG0 with fat 50's neck, shade over 1 11/16" nut, darker stain on body, Braz Rosewood fretboard and bridge......

Wonderful ladder braced guitar and perfect for G Tuning slide, but no relation except shape to a later 60's model.

I was playing it last night - I tend to learn bottleneck tunes in bits and pieces on that guitar, and after I get it down a bit better, play the tunes on my National, which is about 400 Pounds heavier than the flyweight LG0!

That's a nice looking hog top on that 58 LG-0.

Jdd707,

I'm sorry to hear you don't like your LG-0 and I respect your opinion as an owner. There are gems out their of each guitar though. I have played many mahogany top guitars. Too many to name but the LG-0 I played sounded better to me than a vintage 00-17 in the showroom. I have owned a Guild GAD-M20 and have played all the Martin 15 series and the vintage vibe really wasn't there with those models. I actually prefer the DRS1 over the D-15M which I'll admit isn't a popular opinion. However, I think that the LG-0 is equally as cool as a vintage Guild M-20 or Martin 00-17.

littlejohnny,

That is a really nice Epiphone ft-30. I didnt' know that Epiphone made a variation. Maybe an Epiphone RI would be a better idea. Anywho I regret not picking up an LG-0 I saw last year that was price right. :(

BluesKing777,

That is a very nice looking guitar! The LG-0 I played was a little lighter. Did these boxes always come in Mahogany or were some tops stained?
