moparguy
Got rear ended Tuesday evening. The ****** hit the car behind me, she hit me (HARD) and I slid forward into the car in front of me. Damn, I saw stars, my head hit the head rest and it hit the back window. It hit so hard that it knocked the stereo completely out of the dashboard, it was laying in the passenger floorboard, completely disconnected from all the wires. The guy I hit was asking if I was alright and I was just looking at him and couldn't speak ( still seeing stars ). It hit so hard that the frame on the truck is bent. It was still drivable but there is a hump in the middle. Ive been off work for 2 days with a thoracic sprain, but I have to go back to work tomorrow. Hope I don't get screwed by the insurance on my truck, Ill hit them hard with the pain and suffering . EVERYONE went to the hospital including the driver of the truck that caused it all. I bet he was doin 35 mph at least when he hit. Will try to post pics later

surfpup
It does suck, and I feel your pain. I got nailed a couple of years ago. It was slow moving town traffic - about 40 mph, but I had to hit the brakes as traffic in front of me stopped. I instinctively looked in the rear view - yep guy in a small pickup not even looking. BAM! Fortunately, since I had looked back and saw what was coming I laid my head back against the headrest and my foot on the brake and held on.... whap! No whiplash, but it still drove me into the trailer hitch of the guy in front of me, so I needed new front and rear bumpers and a new radiator. It was very hard not to hop out of the car and beat that guy's a$$. I was pretty steamed, but remained in control.... barely.

darling67
Dude, I am very sorry. I feel you pain—or have felt your pain…  I got rear-ended on the freeway out here six years ago. Woman was on her cell phone and didn't notice that traffic—myself included—had come to a complete stop. Happens more often than it should here on Southern California freeways, but it does—and there's no excuse for drivers to not be alert at all times. Anyway…  Same thing as you: I got slammed so hard that I rolled into the car in front of me. My Mini Cooper was totaled. But, had I been in a less sturdy car (those Minis are like little tanks), I'd have been more seriously hurt, I do believe. When she hit, I felt something I still can't explain. Not "pain", but like a "trauma" to my neck and shoulders. I didn't feel it until later that night… at which time I could not lift my head while laying down, or make any movements that required my shoulder to move.  I still feel a "kink" in my left shoulder from time to time. Will feel it for the rest of my life, I assume.  Hope you recover ok. Will take a week or more. Glad you were not seriously injured.
Izzy
Where did my mind go when I read the topic? Gutter. Â I hope you're able to get what you deserve from the insurance and have no major health repercutions. Did you get tests (MRI X-ray)? Best to go overboard and check that nothing got torn while you can...
btoth76
I feel Your pain! Â I supposed to receive my Dodge from the body shop on Wednesday... yesterday they said today...really hope so. It's there since 17th last month! Â An old man did not see the "Stop" sign, and ran into the side of my car without braking at an intersection. He pushed me to the opposite lane. Right in front of a heavy-duty truck. Thanks God, - due to heavy traffic - this didn't happened at higher speed. Â Hehe! I felt so sorry for the old guy, he was scared to death. I stopped the car, got out, with my gun exposed on my belt (I left my jacket in the car - I was in a shock a bit). The first thing I've noticed is a license plate on the road. I picked it up and threw inside my car, only realizing it later that it wasn't mine...We did the paperwork, the insurance company payed well. It's only the time that takes to repair it bugs me now. Â Good luck, Moparguy! I hope You will be alright!
Bender 4 Life
sorry to hear that MoparGuy.....I hope the perpetrator has good insurance because one of my workmates was in the EXACT same situation a cpl yrs back but the gal that hit him (& shoved him into the car in front of him) had no insurance, was driving alone on a learners permit, & it was her 3rd rear-ender in 2 months (at 15 yrs old). luckily, her Dad is a Neurosurgeon & paid for everything w/o having to be sued. Â heal well bro'.....DON'T over-do before you're ready.
buliwyf
Accidents suck but the important thing is your alright,I know back pain is no fun but it should go away. The only two accidents I've ever had no one was in the cars they were both parked. Â One was a brand new 198? Dodge Daytona turbo coupe a pretty expensive car back in the 80,s.We parked across the street from a hair salon my x wife had to stop in and some lady with some big ole buick parked across the street to go in to a food marked and left he car running.Well her car slipped in reverse all by itself and was able to back across 4 lanes of traffic and hit my brand new car (got it the night before)right in the back quarter and rim and drove it into the curb breaking both my rims and and bending my frame,Bye Bye new car. Â #2 was a brand new 199? Camaro Z28 it was a special edition showroom edition.Had it for about a week and one morning about 3AM some drunken minor missed the corner (well the way the road went) and plowed into my car that was parked with lots of other cars cause we all had on street parking and totaled it.I guess he was to drunk to be hurt cause he came banging on my front door and was screaming call 911 someone had an accident.I wish I knew his dad was a Judge in town and because he's a minor his name was never published so I should have made it seemed like he had many injurys from the accident. Well at least no one was hurt in both accidents and again get feeling better soon.BTW did you have any attachment to your truck?

STEVIL
I once got rear ended at traffic lights, I had waited about 2 minutes for the lights to change, and I could see this car approaching from behind in my rear view mirror, I looked and thought this car isn't stopping, so I prepared myself and BANG!! Straight into the back of my car this lady went, bent the boot up, and totalled the bumper. When I asked why she hadn't seen me, she said, and I quote 'I was thinking about what I would cook for supper tonight...'. Luckily neither of us were hurt, and the rest of the damage went through the insurance companies.

btoth76
Here's mine: Â Â Got it back on Friday. The repairsmen did a great job. It's like new now. It got a new door, new running board (both inner and outer), and quater panel too. Â Sad to see Your pickup truck. Can it be repaired? turtle
Ouch man! Hope you recover quickly and fully. I was in an accident many years ago and my bands equipment was in the bed of my truck. I was sideswiped by a guy that hit me instead of another car that he tried to aviod. Truck was fixed everyone was fine. Till I plugged my lee jackson modded marshall into the wall at band practice a few weeks later. Massive hum. Amp ended up dying on me and me being so young I didn't know what to do with it except give it to a friend. I tried to retrieve the amp years after and he had sold it. Feel better ad keep us posted. retrosurfer1959
Wow sorry to here about your misfortune. Getting hit from behind is a bad feeling especially if you know it's coming. I was sitting on a Harley Electro Glice Motor years ago and heard a light impact turned around and some drunk (4:00 pm Saturday afternoon) was headed at me at 70 plus miles a hour and I was stopped at a red light with a car right in front of me. All I thought was **** this is gotten be painful if it doesn't kill me. He never even touched his break and was doing over 70 when he hit me. The bike exploded and I was imbedded in his grill when he hit the cars in front of me. The mess finally came to a stop about 130 yards down the road. I was cut out in about 40 minutes and Air-Evac'd to a level one trauma center and I was right it was painful. Spent almost two years in the hospital and had 50 plus operations before they finally cut me loose to go home. lost a leg, broke my back in five places shattered my left should and collapsed a lung. But like they say any accident you can walk away from is a good one and hopefully there's no serious or permanent injury ,
