fender101punk
I purchased this '87 335 earlier this year. Ebony with gold hardware (whats left). A lot of people rave about the 80's 335's especially with the Tim Shaw pickups and now I know why. This is a keeper. Currently has a Callaham ABR-1 installed. Haven't seen a 335 from the 80's that looked like this so thought I would post.
jc1funk
yeah, that's hot man. Never was into gold hardware but that mix of parts looks cool
gnappi
I wouldn't say that 80's guitars were any better than current 335's or other current models. I have a 1990 335, and a 2013 Midtown Custom that play and sound very close to each other. OTOH I have Les Pauls and other similar semi and fully hollow Gibsons that sound and play VERY differently. I think that each guitar can have unique characteristics.
texasdw
OP...I love that worn down formerly-gold plated hardware. That is great! I can't wait for my gold plated hardware to look like that.
Jabberwocky
That looks like a beautiful rosewood fretboard with tight grain and I don't see any pores. Smooth as glass. A quiet Brazilian?
4Hayden
Black and gold looks good together, I have a light burst ES 355. Great guitars
