New-ish Guitar Day

Very nice.

I spent a good couple hours at Philly Summer show and that time was with that black one, and two sunburst examples of that guitar. All three were nice, priced from 750 down to 599, all new, and all in new shape for a guitar from a shop, so a ding here or a scritch there, nothing major.

I didn't bring one home, none of the three were "it". But man, for 400, I'd be all over one of them.

I hope you play it long time in good health.

You know I could have haggled with the guy but he drove an hour to get it to me and included everything with the sale.

The neck is just right, beefy enough but not too thick and it has little taper which I prefer.

I have a set of Burstbuckers that will be getting traded for a set of P90s that will go on this guitar.

It really is a great looking guitar. I love the rough finish on a lot of the new Gibsons these days. Where did you find it? CL?

Yep, it was there for a month but the guy wanted trades, then last night by chance I checked and it had a $400 price OBO actually but I do not have time to drive 1 hour each way so I offered full price if he delivered it to me. It helps that I work by the Cool Springs Mall.

Great deal on the black git!! Also, like that white one a bunch too. Best I see new on that version is about $1400.00 but I don't know if you get a bag or anything for that. Didn't say at MF's listing.

What is the Firebird's "Claim to fame" anyway? Not doubting anything, just haven't ever held one and not seen one in a store to play.

The Firebird maybe be the original "designer" guitar, it was designed to compete with Fender in the 60's.

It is a neck-through guitar. (this model I bought is not)

To me, the minihumbuckers can sound Strat-ish.

The standard model is a stout guitar, I like the 70's tribute because it is lighter, with a smaller headstock/tuners and can accommodate P90s in the cavities although I have never seen one modded with them.

Wow, maybe it was a color thing but this Firebird actually looks cool to me. I never really liked the look of them, but that looks classic!

Grats on the awesome price and look!

The mini-pups are adorable [biggrin]

Congrats on getting such a sweet guitar for such a sweet price-I love the sound of the Firebird's mini-hums,there is such a unique tone from them that is so addictive-I can see why Brian Jones and Johnny Winter were so fond of them.BTW the White Firebird for just $925 was an incredible buy too-there is something about White Firebirds that makes them really classy looking.BTW if the tuners are the same ones that they use on the Epi Firebirds, you'll love them, they hold their tuning indefinitely no matter how much bending and bashing you give the strings.
