Casey Araujo
Hi everybody, I've recently been looking into purchasing a Gibson Les Paul 60's tribute goldtop with p90s. The only one I can seem to find available online is the new Dark Back version which just looks odd to me with a black back and a lack of binding. I originally wanted the Limited Run model with a natural back because it has more of a classic Les Paul look but just about every website (Musician's Friend, Zzounds, Sweetwater, Etc.)says they're no longer available. I did however find them available on Guitar Center.com. Does anyone know if Guitar Center is the only place that sells them, or are they actually out of production and maybe guitar center made a mistake? btoth76
Hello Casey and welcome to the Forums! The first run of those guitars have been discontinued long time ago. http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Les-Paul-Studio-60s-Tribute.aspx (from "Out of production" section) Cheers... Big Bill
If I remember right, they went over like a dead fart in church. Their seemed to be a lot of complaint about the quality.
charlie brown
IMHO...If you really want a "Gold Top" Les Paul, with P-90's, then save more money, and get an R-6! You'll be really glad you did!! CB

CB Thanks for the tip, I still want a Goldtop but I think I might get one of the 2013 60's Tribute studio models with the robot tuners and stuff. Well, they're decent, for what they are...and inexpensive Les Paul. But, they are no comparison, to the R-6, inspite of the price difference. IMHO, of course. But, good luck, whatever you decide! I probably will end up saving up more money for a more expensive and higher quality Les Paul but I've never actually owned a Gibson before, so I don't really wanna spend a whole lot of money right away if ya know what I mean. Plus I think $1350 for a "Goldtop" with robot tuners as a pretty good deal. I'll definitely keep the R-6 in mind later on though it looks amazing! RUSHian
I had the white Les Paul 60s Tribute and it was a great guitar!! Look on evilBay. Gibson is now making the 60's with humbuckers.

Yeah I've seen the new ones with the humbuckers. I think I'm gonna get one with the Min-Etune thing on it. Still love the sound of the P90's but I played one of the new 60's models and they sound amazing.
bbrodie
I have one of the 60's P90 Tributes in Honeyburst. It 's a great sounding and playing guitar with no quality issues. From what I understand, that run was for 800 guitars in each color. The Goldtops went really quick. The P90's are great pickups. Seems like the Darkbacks came out because the first run went fast but was supposed to be a limited edition, so that could be where the Darkbacks came in. I didn't really care for the 50's oe 70 Tributes.

Rabs
Yeah those guitars were limited and they actually went down VERY well since they sold out and then Gibson decided to do the dark back version and the 50s version and now they have a whole line of tribute models. I have a 60s Tribute Goldtop lightback and its an amazing guitar.. I think one of the reasons they stopped making them was because of the raids that happened and they lost their supply of Rosewood for a while..
