Ilya
I've bought Gibson Les Paul Studio Alpine N135420560 about a month ago, in Moscow (Russia) at the official distributor - http://gibson.muztorg.ru/. Yesterday i've notice strange thing down the tune-o-matic (see the pics) I want to know, if its factory defect or it was made by someone else (in the shop), Will it influence on the sound How could it happen anyway? I must say that i did not touch this thing at all - no need. (i mean tune-o-matic)

Guest Farnsbarns
I can't see what I'm supposed to see, nothing looks way off but pics with more than a few pixels might help. Or could you describe what you think is wrong?
rct
I think he means the oxidation the studs left on the paint around the screw hole. rct
Guest Farnsbarns
I think he means the oxidation the studs left on the paint around the screw hole. rct I thought not since the tune-o-matic was mentioned. Hopefully we'll get clarification.
Ilya
Pretty wierd...all the pics are 3k res. The whole is pressed (dimple) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/Eldy/20130724_205729_zpsa3b49c4e.jpg
btoth76
Здравствуй Илья! Добро пожаловать у нас! Sorry, I continue in English (it's a pain to type Russian on a latin keyboard). As I see, the stud has been painted also. It should've left unpainted. Probably, some grease got into the finish as it was sprayed over the body with studs unmasked. I would remove the paint from the stud with a very sharp blade or scalpel. But that's me, and the guitar is Yours. This is how it should look like: Cheers... If so, it's fairly common for the finish to be applied over the insert, perhaps not desirable, but it happens, as for the discolouration, it wouldn't bother me much but I suppose it might spread. If you haven't bonded with it, or it isn't the most amazing guitar you've ever played and you feel another one would feel and play as well, return it. Or it's totally Ok and if i personally do not like it i can bring it back to the shop?=) Despite all the things, could it me a signal of fake guitar? No?=) Help me with my paranoia! p.s. its easier for me speak financial english rather than guitar-english=)
btoth76
Hello! Try to post pictures using a Photobucket.com account. Copy the uploaded picture's code into Your post. What I see, isn't much enough to determine whether it's a fake or not. But I don't believe so: fakes usually have Epiphone type bridges, instead of Gibson Tun-o-matic. It's not a big problem until ,- as Farnsbarns said - it won't spread on the surface of the guitar. It's really up to You. If it bothers You: return it, but if the instrument has great playability and sound, and You got bonded with it, You might just take it to a luthier to remove the excess paint from the studs. These kind of minor faults are the things Gibson owners have to live with. Cheers... Bence
deeman
I wouldn't worry about it.
mikewaz
Hard to tell, but are those adjustment screws on the bridge slotted? If so, could indicate non-Gibson part.

I thought that when looking at one of the pics but then other one soon cleared that up. It's fine.
Bryn6490
It looks like paint over the inserts. Is the other said the same? i would be careful removing the excess paint. Use an Exacto nknife to cut around the insert.
badbluesplayer
Yes. Like the other people said, the paint is over the stud. You can remove it with a sharp blade, like btoth said.

capmaster
Have been looking closely to all of my stop tailpiece Gibsons meanwhile. OK, I replaced eight of the stopbars with TP-6es long ago, but didn't think about finish on the studs or not... Most of my Gibsons do have some finish on their tailpiece studs, and some studs are completely finished. It feels partially like rubber, interestingly also on my Custom Shop LP Std F TO, partially solidified. I don't think I will do anything against it because I am neither worried nor annoyed about it. Perhaps I would if there appeared corrosion, but it doesn't seem so, and so I leave it alone. Just my two cents...
