rbpicker
I think it is very cool. Plus they got the pickguard positioned correctly. RB

zombywoof
Hard to have an opinion on a guitar you have not played. My guess is if you put it side by side with a regular old J-45 you would not hear a difference unplugged - unless you had dog hearing.

JuanCarlosVejar
potential clown-burst action going on there... Pman , no clown burst it's actually the MONTANA SUNSET finish that they used on the Sheryl Crown SJ ... and a lot of people dug those . JC
duluthdan
I like it better in person. This photo really has some high contrast to it that I don't percieve in reality.
RichG
Yup, that's the same finish as the SCSJ. It's not why I bought it....the sound was ....but I like that burst.
GDC
Clown burst. Ha That's funny, I've seen a few of those. I kinda like that sunset though. Thanks for the comments. I'll check the A3 out, Bob.
onewilyfool
Isn't this the Pure Voice A3 with a different pup? Bob I got that Pure Voice, and it is identical except PV has "custom" script on the truss rod cover, and of course, the pure voice pickup... high_plains
I played one of these at Music Villa in Bozeman a month or so ago (right after the Gibson Homecoming). The sound was absolutely stunning. If I had the bones to drop on this guitar, I would have. Compared to other J45s they had, hummingbirds, J35s, and even southern jumbos, this just blew them all away. The guys at MV suggested that the adirondack spruce-topped J45s were destined for the Japanese market but every now and again, a few stick around the states. GDC
Thanks, high plains. Looks like you're right, Bob. A3 sans fancy pup. I think this is the one for me.

Down south
I recently purchased a J45 Tri-burst/Sunset burst with a red spruce top. I really like the guitar. I found one with a nice "V" figured back and beautiful wide grain red spruce top with a great sound. I compared this guitar to the true vintage and standard model. I believe it has everything in the TV model minus hide glue, bone nut and thinner finish but for the money the J-45 Tri burst is a nice sounding guitar. Guitars and Motorcycles are alike. They are all cool and fun to play and ride. Overall I have been very pleased with the investment.

GDC
Well, I'm guessing this is the guitar of the month for July, after reading Keith's post to the Out of Production thread. According to the dealer I'm working with, this is limited to a run of 50 - though I'm not sure that measn much with Gibson.
onewilyfool
I'm guessing that there will be dissagreement on this, but.....I'm not a big fan of Adirondack, generally, but the sound on my J-45 Pure voice, which I got mainly for the pickup, is just a wonderful sweet sound. It is only made in 2012, and I've heard that adirondack takes even MORE time to open than Sitka. But I must say, that this Pure voice, now that I've had it a a few weeks, is the best new guitar sound that I've ever heard or owned. AND, this is the first Adirondack guitar that I;ve owned, that I've really fallen in love with. I've had a collings, a bourgeois, and a Martin with Adi top, and have played many more, and this is just the best. If these red spruce sunbursts are anything like mine, please try them out. GDC
Thanks, One. I've sent Jon Garon at My Favorite Guitars a check for one. I'm his first Gibson customer, it seems. Waiting on Gibson to ship it - which they should do in a a few days or whatever. He ordered it in his initial stock purchase. I tend to like red spruce. I've got several, the oldest being bought in like '03 or '04. I like 'em right out of the box, usually, and havn't noticed any major change over the few short years I've owned them, some, but nothing dramatic. From what I gather, this J-45 Red Spruce Sunsetburst is quite like your pure voice, except it doesn't have the more highly regarded pickup. Not sure if there're any other differences. I can understand why some prefer sitka; I like it, too.
Salfromchatham
What, besides the sunburst for the most part, differentiates the red spruce J45 from the TV?
GDC
The bracing. TV has the advanced whereas this one has regular. TV has a mildly relic finish, with yellowed binding and buffed-down satin-like finish. i think the tuners may be different and the neck shape, but not sure. And the TV has no pickup as far as I know. Salfromchatham
Please give us your review when you get it! I am a big fan of the TVs - hope to try the J45 red Spruce soon as well in person.
