Do you ever...

Yes, I do and I follow through every few years.

I can't believe how much amps have evolved over the last 10 years. There are some awesome low-watt tube amps out there now. I am very happy with a Blackstar HT5R head and a Bugera V22 - both purchased since the first of the year. These things have BIG tone from low through 'Holy shZt!" volumes. For really low volumes you can't beat the THR10 AND it gets loud enough to fill a room too if you want it to!

Guitars haven't changed as much as amps, IMO, except that one can get some pretty darn good instruments for really good prices if you aren't put off by headstocks that don't say "Gibson" or "Fender" on them.

The only guitar that's been mine since new and will remain mine is the B7.

It was a 10th anniversary gift from my wife of 22 years (and counting).

I recently acquired an 07 Studio VM that I can't see ditching either.

What did I get rid of? All in top shape:

'98 Am Dlx Strat

FMT HH Telecaster

Takamine EG523SC

Acoustisonic Jr

Behringer powered mixer w/2 15" Kustom cabs

Fender CyberTwin

I've also picked up a couple of Epis; an Ultra-339 and an LP Std+ PRO. The 339 is very sweet and will likely remain a good long while, the Epi ProBucker pups are VERY good. The Epi LP will stay a while - it plays great and also has ProBuckers, but is quite redundant at this point, so it will be the base for a few simple mods.

I still need to replace the acoustic, but not the Acoustisonic Jr. The THR10 does all I need for acoustic for the time being; I don't need volume, just some reverb, chorus and the ability to record w/o a mic.

guilty! my son too, with amps and pedals.

I love my SG but since I don't play it as often...I keep wanting to sell it (although my best playing guitar) just to try something new. Keep in mind, i'm a lefty and so my world is smaller than most.

Trying to part with my Hagstrom Viking...

...want to just sell some guitars to buy new guitars; if for not other reason but to try something new or different?? A la bored or GAS, its annoying...

I've done that in the past, but I've reached a point where I really love all the guitars I have now, so I guess the brakes have been applied now. [biggrin]

I was doing that for a long time <wish I had a dollar for every guitar I have owned>, but now I just buy. I try and buy one guitar each month, or at the least every other month.

Some of the guitars I have sold I would give double to get them back.

I go through gear re-adjustment phases but the changes are getting smaller as I have understood how to buy gear that I actually like. There have been guitars and amps that I bought thinking it'd be cool to own but that was not the case.

At this point only making small changes like pickups and pedals.

Yes of course, it's the other side of the GAS coin and gives you the right to say for years afterwards "I should never have sold my early 'UniqueChromiumSuperGoodie' as it had a rare doodad and was one of the only ones with fairy dust on it".

I have just sold 2 - a Takamine electro-classical and an Aerodyne Strat, to help finance a guitar I have already bought.

I regret only the transition Strat serial no. 161234.

I got the 1967 Tele back (for a lot more) after a few years.

i'm soon to round up several of my lesser-played solid body guitars and start working sales/trades to aquire more hollow/semi bodied guitars, which i've recently discovered a serious preference for.

at present, my solids outnumber my semi/hollows by 4 to 1, and i'll be keeping a few of my better solids, some for my lifetime, but i've GOT to get more "sweetness" into my pallette.

I was going to sell my Strat and Peavey amp to help fund an acoustic-electric. When I was shopping for one, my daughter fell in love with a $300 Luna a-c. I told her she could have it for Christmas, but first she'd have to show some dedication to my Strat (she's never played a single note).

So, my equipment selling has been put on hold for the time being. If she actually shows a willingness to learn, I'll get her the Luna she wants, and let her keep the Strat as long as she likes. If it ends up collecting dust in a corner of her bedroom for the next few months, I'll go back to trying to sell it to finance something else on my GAS list. lol

No, I tend to keep all my guitars. I couldn't part with any of them. And they don't sit in their cases, I play them every week.

I've sold a few over the years for reasons like: it doesn't get played or I found something better; but not just to try something new or different. I tend to hold on to the ones I like for a long time. I've been a buying guitars for a lot of years and it's getting hard to walk around the house without seeing a guitar or a case - ya know? . Yes. I sell everything eventually. There's not a lot of sense dying with a bunch of great equipment and then having the kids fire-sale the stuff!! [laugh]

The stuff I gotta have I keep the paperwork for so my son'll know what I have. [thumbup]

Good idea
