Why? Unless your rich or signed to people who will trow money at you it's a waste of your talent. [biggrin]

Lol.. Well maybe one day.. I was in a band many years ago and miss it.

Plus it was just an excuse to post the video really :P

I was in an "on the road" band for nine years. Not a lot of fun after the first couple years. Money was decent, but in the long run I could have done just as well with a good day job. It only cost me a house, half of my savings, a car and a really good woman. I don't miss it at all. With gas prices today I doubt we could afford to do it. JMHO

Same here.

"Do what you love and you can't go wrong!" The only people that say that started with a few million, because doing what you love will break you fast, as it quickly goes from Doing What You Love! to trying to make ends meet. Deciding to take on a regular day job was one of the very few good decisions I've made in this life, and we have eaten much better for it!

Yeah, another here; I did a couple of years. It's a young man's game and a great adventure at first. The money wasn't always decent and we just went round and round until I couldn't survive financially any longer. I didn't realise how incredibly tired I was until I stopped. Fortunately for me I went into guitar teaching; if you are in the right area - affluent - and work hard at it you can build it up and do ok. Eventually I saved enough to buy some home studio equipment and expanded my business. But even then I burned out on teaching after 11 years and I now do have a day job.

As they say, there is music....and there is music business.

the other side of this is, you keep the day job.. and you do this part time..(I've been in the IT field since the late 70s) Gigged a lot in the 80s to mid 90s when it just started being more of a pain in the arse than it was worth. I dragged myself into work many times trying to keep everything in place. Turns out to be almost as hard on the family situation, especially once the kids start coming.

either way - there's sacrifices to be made and it stops being fun at some point, and you realize, this aint what I had in mind. for me, I had to find the right balance for my situation. (I know a lot of divorces that wouldn't have happened if this was done)
