simont Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 hows the motor noise guys? How are you getting used to the bottom machine heads 3 being reversed?
elantric Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Its annoying - also I can no longer do my Junior Brown "spin the tuner" type riffs. the gear ratio seems like 100:1
simont Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 the gear ratio seems like 100:1 Dont understand gear ratio. 100:1... is that good?
Alouf Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Dont understand gear ratio. 100:1... is that good? It means that for every 100 rotation, the transfer gears turns 1 time. Which seems really high.
elantric Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Typical tuners are 18:1 You can grab a Kluson tuner on a vintage guitar and do Duane Eddy Peter Gunn opening riff playing open low E string and rotating only the tuner to get the bends Impossible with Dark Fire Its about a whole step pitch change per 360 turn of the tuner. of course reverse direction from your other guitars. Tuning the Dark Fire manually feels just like winding up one of these;
elantric Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 And very precise. Wish all my guitar tuners were as accurate as the Dark Fire Tuners. But I just have to trade my old tricks I could do with my old 12:1 tuners tuners, for all the new tricks the Dark Fire provides. No chance of Adrian Legg type tricks using Keith Banjo Tuners from Tronical - yet!
