EVOL!
Tell me about the putting the B7 on an SG.. I think it looks much cooler than the B5 but are there any functional drawbacks? Is the roller too close to the bridge? Is the bar at a comfortable place for you to grab? I thought the biggest problem was with the strap button. That tongue type flap is too long for the SG's narrow body.

Dennis G
Not sure if you cats are f'ing with me or just don't realize that I am talking about the Vibramate devices. That little rubber end on the bar is great. I kept mine on my SG Classic. I, for one, definitely misunderstood and thought you were talking about the little clear rubber tip on the arm. Ooops! I have no Vibromates on any of my Bigsby's, but the Casino is the only "mod". The other two are factory installs. Isn't the V more for solid body installs? zigzag
Actually, I'm not a big fan of Bigsbys, but I do like my 6120, esp. the Filtertrons. My next Gretsch will be Bigsby free.

I find it interesting that Gretsch does both rocker and roller bridges. My Jazzmaster has a rocker bridge and I find that design better for tuning stability if you're abusing the tremolo bar. bonzoboy
@ Dennis G: A Bigsby would greatly add to the versatility and sustain of your Dot,I think that you'd be very happy with the results if you did it.Cheers.
Twang Gang
Do it! I used to have a mid nineties Made in Korea Sheraton that I put a B7 on. Talk about a really fun guitar to play. Turned her from great to a tone machine. The pair of Gibson 57s probably helped too. NO NO Don't do it. That is a beautiful looking axe in Natural - don't mess it up. Wouldn't life be boring if we all felt the same way.
Dennis G
Evoli, Bonzoboy, Twang...You guys are killing me LOL! Seriously though, this is why I will post ?'s like this here. Nice to get different opinions. In the end I know it's my decision, but you sometimes learn some things you hadn't thought about as well. Thanks to all past and future "commenters". I considered installing a roller bridge when I was having tuning issues, but once I changed strings and lubed the nut, I was golden. That said, I'd still prefer a roller bridge to what I have now. Dennis G
Cookieman, you absolutely must stop posting pic's of this guitar! Stop it, stop it, stop it! You're making me "green" with envy. As I've said before, it's just an absolutely drop dead looking guitar.
RRIDER
This is my only one with a Bigsby. It was my 1st and still one of my favorite guitars. I've had it for 35yrs, but my wife's dad bought her new in 1964.
Aster1
If they ever get caught up I want to get a stainless Compton bridge for my 5122DC. Maybe a polished brass for the Caddy Jet. I do love the perfect intonation you can get with the Syncro-sonic style it has but you have to watch out for the knurled knobs sticking up if you rest your hand back there for sure. It feels like they could take "meat" off a palm heal. People with the Compton compensated say they are spot on, however that's hear-say for me at this point as I don't have any 1st hand experience with one. 2nd hand, 3rd hand or not even a foot! Is the roller too close to the bridge? Is the bar at a comfortable place for you to grab? I also like the look. I don't see any drawbacks. I used a metric roller bridge on the Gibby imperial posts ( I bent the posts to fit ), the bar in comfy as well....... As Evol says, the tongue doesn't fit as is...This works; Remove the pin carefully, flip the tail end, re-pin, mount the extra small screw piece on the flipped end, and use a few washers and/or bolt in between the end and the slab. Vibramates are either a love or hate thing, I don't mind them, nor do I mind skipping them......I do plan to do an SG Evol's way at some point............Love the pics all, thanks for posting them !!!! Dennis G
My Gretsch and Wildkat came with the Bigsby. I added the B7 to my Casino after several months. Glad I did; makes it a bit more versatile and improved the sustain slightly. Tempted to add a Bigsby to my Dot, but hmmmm.... Okay, so decided to go for it. The Black B700 arrived today so I'll probably get around to installing sometime next week. Really want to figure out what to cover the old bridge posts with, so any and all suggestions welcomed in that regard. Not a priority.
