tvguit
Welcome to the forum JTVilla. Would you post some pictures of your ES-330? Sounds like it could be from 1966-1968 or so. Pictures would help.

Gralst
Hello everyone, new to the forum. I got an ES 330 recently and wanted to learn more about it. the serial number is as follows 626874. any help is appreciated! The ES-330 was made from 1959 to 1972. The 62XXXX serial numbers were used in 1970-1972 and again in 1974-1975. Since the model was discontinued in 1972 it can't be a 1974-1975. Contrary to what some have said, the ES-330 was NOT a lower end model to the ES-335. While still considered an entry level electric thin line (fully hollow) arch top (Intended to replace the ES-225T at that market niche and price point),it bore only superficial resemblance to the semi-hollow ES-3XX series of guitars. As I said, the model was introduced in 1959. It has a laminated maple body and mahogany neck. It utilized two P-90 pickups (one on the ES-330T single pick up version). The P-90s had black plastic covers until 1962 when they became nickel-plated (Very early ones had nickel plated plastic covers- EXCEEDINGLY RARE) then becoming chrome plated in 1965. 1962 was a major transition year for all Gibsons. In 1962 the body changed with the "Mickey Mouse Ears" becoming less rounded. The "Dot" fret markers became small blocks and also in 1962 the natural finish was discontinued and cherry red offered as a color option. In 1968 a 19th fret neck/body join was offered as well as the original 15th fret join. The Epiphone E-230TD/T Casino was the Kalamazoo-made Epiphone equivalent model, made from 1961-1969. If there's anything I've missed, ask away and I'll try to get you an answer.
