charlie brown
Well, something must be "afoot!" Just checked the Gibson products (electric guitars) web page, under "SG," and found the vast majority listed, are now listed as "out of production!" So, it makes me wonder=HOPE, (if) after the praise and success, of the new "Original," they are going to introduce SG's, with "old spec's"...as in wider body beveling, and deeper bevel chamfer's (at the horns), as they were originally introduced with, in '61? OR...if they are just whittling down the available models, for production. I'm (obviously) hoping it's the former, rather than the latter. sgplayers
Finally a limited run. some limited runs run for a very long time.
charlie brown
Yeah, I'd much prefer early '60's spec'd: Junior, P-90 Special w/neck binding, Standard, and Custom. (including...the option of a Maestro, bigsby, or stop tailpieces!) Everything else, as a limited run (1 year, max), or Custom Shop model. But, that's just Me! charlie brown
I'd go with the former, I wonder if they're dropping the batwing scratch plate for a while too. Yeah, I hope so, too! The new 2013 "Standard" and "Original," is a great step, in the right direction! Hope all that better beveling, chamfering, and horn tapering translates, to all other SG's, from now on! Sure LOVE the Standard, and "Original," out now! CB

CB Definitely CB, but wouldn't mind a special with the batwings with all the bells and whistles you mention too! Oh, and a nice set of P90s on board for good measure - that would seriously squeeze my wallet.
charlie brown
Yeah, the "batwing" pickguard is fine/cool. "I've" always prefered the small pickguard, myself (don't want to hide all the beautiful Mahogany!), but again, that's just Me! CB
sgplayers
I would like to have anew special with binded neck and abalone name plate. the way they made them years back.
sellen
Only cleaning up i guess. Sure there will build up for some batwing lust

I'm glad the smaller PG is a more prominent at the moment. Maybe Gibson will do a special with the small PG?
darling67
I still check this page every week… even though I am no longer in the market for a new SG. Many models have been out of production for several months now. It was a bit frustrating to see so many desirable SG's, only to find many of them no longer available. Wonder what's in-store for 2014 (Sh*t! Did I just say, "two-thousand fourteen"????) :o

The last 20 years, are a blurr...like when you go to "light speed!" CB
GuitarsAnn
I've been practicing that song lately!!! YIKES!!!!! I looked at the site and see they removed a lot of "out of production" guitars. Makes sense if they are not for sale anymore. The 50th Anniversary SG-12 is gone. Glad I got mine!!! GuitarsAnn
charlie brown
Wow, the Gibson SG's models have really been downsized! As of this posting, 3 CS models, and only 10 Gibson USA models... (5 of which, are the "tributes") Either, they're working on new (or old re-issue) models, or...the economy (sales) finally took it's toll. ???
