beterpan
I finally got my first real Gibson Les Paul. I am in like a heaven. I went to Thomann at Treppendorf, Germany two weeks ago; and tried a number of Les Pauls. Initially I was thinking of getting a Trad Pro II or a Signature T. I first tried the Trad Pro II and its neck felt weird because of -the satin finish it had. Moreover, the craftmanship was not so good either. Then I tried a Signature T. It was a very good guitar. It sounded awesome and its craftmanship was almost flaweless. Afterwards, I tried two HCS Standard 2012's. I learned the Standard 2012's were somehow cheaper than the 2013 models. (And this is a LP 2012 made in 2013.) To be honest, the Signature T was very good, but I liked the playability, versatility and the tone of the Standards much more. The finish of one of those Standards were much better than the other, since the other had marks on the rear of the fingeboard and push-pull pots had some issues. I felt in love with the non-problematic Standard, and purchased it. I am very happy with the tone and the playability of my new guitar. I know, I made a right decision. Afterwards, I installed Schaller strap locks. I am happy with the Schallers as well. Here are the photos of my new guitar.
BigKahune
. That's a beautiful flame top. And a gorgeous burst - love the gentle/subtle gradient - wonderful. I also like the darkness of your fretboard. Great looking LP. Congrats. . B) .

RobertAndersson
Excellent choice, if I ever buy a second LP, it would be one like this! Enjoy!
capmaster
Congratulations, great buy. Wonderful top, nice finish, and a very fine looking fretboard. Interestingly though, there is "2013 MODEL" embossed on the headstock's back. OK, among my Gibsons are some where the opposite applies, i. e. made in 2012 but saying "2013 MODEL"... Wonder if the Thomann listing of your instrument perhaps was because of lower pricing. I bought my Les Paul Standard 2012 HB personally at Thomann's shop in July, 2012. It was a single item somewhat cheaper than all the other Std 2012 LPs, perhaps due to some obvious brown grains on the top, but it played and sounded flawlessly and still does. At least it did today in the morning When I asked them how it came they told me that this one was lower priced by Gibson, and so they sell it for a lower price, too since they calculate all their prices the same way. Closely looking at the back, I think your baby may have a two-piece mahogany body. I am not sure, but a look to the ribs at the cutaway and the lower bout should make it clear. This is not a shortcoming, but since a one-piece body is specified, it maybe could explain the lower price. When I bought my LP Trad 2013 a few weeks ago at Thomann's, I had the choice between guitars with one-pieced and two-pieced bodies. It's not specified for the Traditional, so the price was the same. I went with a one-piece bodied guitar since they all performed about the same.

The Thomann's invoice says the following about the guitar I purchased: "Gibson Les Paul Standard 2012 HCS, mahogany body (new modern weight relief), AAA flamed top, mahogany body, rosewood fingerboard (compound radius), 628mm scale, 43mm nut width, trapezoid inlays, 22 frets, setup by PLEK, 60's neck profile, 2 x dual burstbucker pro, 2 x push/pull volume (coil switch), 2 x push/pull tone (phase switch and pure bypass) TonePros locking bridge and string holder, Grover Kidney locking machine heads, Switchcraft locking jack, including case, colour: heritage cherry sunburst, made in USA." Price: € 1898.00 On the other hand, my guitar has a two piece back as you noticed. Thomann now sells some Gibson Les Paul Standards (such as my 2012 Standard) cheaper than the others; and you may see some 2012 Standards with cheaper prices in the web site of Thomann. The finish of my guitar is flaweless as far as I could see in last three weeks. I really do not know why. To be honest, I can say that I expected more warm and more full-bodied tones from that guitar; but the Gibson Les Paul Standards are awesome guitars. I liked it that way too. charlie brown
Lovely! Now, in 30 years, with a few honest playing "dings," some finish checking, and binding yellowing, that will be an Awesome looking LP Standard. Seriously, it looks Great, now! And, it will only get sweeter, as the years go by! CB

Interestingly, the invoice of my LP 2012 Honeyburst said the same as written for those 250 € more expensive ones that time. Lovely! Now, in 30 years, with a few honest playing "dings," some finish checking, and binding yellowing, that will be an Awesome looking LP Standard. Seriously, it looks Great, now! And, it will only get sweeter, as the years go by! CB My 2012 Std, made on April 2nd, 2012, has got a significantly sweeter tone since July 14th, 2012 when I bought it. And it's my only guitar with a really bad "ding" at the upper edge of the peghead - I ran from a dark floor into the door of a dark room which I thought should be open, but had gone close a bit meanwhile :( The Heritage Cherry Sunburst of your Standard looks really great on this nice flame top. I think it is one of the nicest finishes for a Les Paul, and I love it on my 2013 Traditional, too.
