jt
I thought that some of you might enjoy a video clip of the book release reception I hosted in March in Kalamazoo for the four surviving Gals and the families of all of the Gals. That's my 1943 SJ. The first owner was a soldier who took the guitar to the war. Both soldier and guitar returned bruised and battered, but all the more beautiful for the experience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwePuYoe7Wo&feature=youtu.be

jt
Thanks, folks! It was such an honor and privilege to be able to discover and tell this story. I tear up every time I watch this video clip. As most of you know, I located 12 Gals and these 4 are the only survivors.
duluthdan
JT - This is such an extraordinary story, and I am so pleased that you spent the sweat and toil to dig and dig and display it for the world to see. Wonderful history, as told by a wonderful man. Looking forward to someday buying you dinner again, and perhaps playing that mojo filled SJ again. blindboygrunt
Nice video jt. I might put my white button tuners back on the guitar after watching. The sides on the guitar look very ..um.. Dull? Matt... Is that the way they were made or has the laquer worn off ? Nice playing as usual

Matt... Is that the way they were made or has the laquer worn off ? Nice playing as usual Thanks, BBG. That guitar went to the war with its original owner and lived in fox holes. As best I can tell, most of the original finish has worn off. The back sports what I call a mop 'n glow over smear (which I've recently scraped off). I'm fortunate to have another, minty 1943 SJ. Here's what the SJs looked like when new: I know that both are good guitars because the passed reinspection by the original, WWII inspector. :)
