What is the name of the color of my Les Paul?

I have a '98 Les Paul Studio and have always wondered what the actual name of the color is. I have never seen another one with the same color in person.

It is basically a pretty normal red, lighter than the wine red ones however it is transparent (kind of hard to see from the pictures, but it is).

Anyone have any info on an official color name?

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the Forums!

That's what I could dig up:

"Rare "Ruby Red" Les Paul Studio. This color was part of Gibson's "Gem" series for LPs in '98 and '99. The Gem models had P90 pickups but a few LPs from this period got the Ruby Red paint job with gold Humbuckers instead."

Congratulations! A beauty!

Cheers... Bence

Wow, that's quite an answer! After doing the search, I think you are totally right. It says they produced a small number of regular studios using the leftover paint from the "gem series".

So I have a "Ruby Red" studio, thanks a lot for the info!
