glider
hey all I recently acquired in a trade a mint condition les paul traditional pro with p90's gold top and 50's style neck profile. I was told these were made exclusively for guitar center. traded a 62 reissue telecaster which was super nice but I couldn't resist the allure of gold top p90's. just wondering if other people on the board have this guitar and what their impressions are. seems lighter than I was expecting but it was indicated that it was modern weight relieded (not sure what that means). pups seem awesome and she feels real comfortable to play. just wondering if people are digging this guitar the way I do at this point. finish work is top notch and I like the locking grovers. how does this guitar differ from the other les pauls out there= seems so confusing with so many variations. anyways thanks for the time reading this... capmaster
sounds like an awesome guitar... pics??? i haven't heard of a trad with p90's... I have seen and checked out Traditional Pro LPs with several PU combinations, but most of them were uncovered humbuckers. Some of them came with glossy finish, some with a silk mat semi-gloss one, some with a glossy top and the rest in semi-gloss.

Bryan Sutherland
Very nice!! She's a beauty!!! Although I don't know what coil-taps will do with single coil pickups... Happy NGD!!

Happy NGD!! yeah I am not sure about that either. just seems to cut the output some- I would think this would be the same as rolling back the volume...I haven't played the guitar thru my twin reverb or ampeg m12 yet.. we will see- so far it sounds pretty cool out of my 70's champ

hawkfanatic
Odd....i wonder what they mean by "Traditional Weight Relief". I know weight relieved is when they chamber them, but "traditional"? I mean, generally that would mean the way they did it back in the day, but they never DID that back in the day AFAIK. So why TRADITIONAL?

I mean, generally that would mean the way they did it back in the day, but they never DID that back in the day AFAIK. So why TRADITIONAL? Hello! Traditional, because it's done that way for 30 years know. Also known as "swiss-cheese" method. Nine holes drilled into the body on the bass side of the lower bout. Chambering is another thing, and there is "modern weight relief" introduced a year ago. Google them for pictures. Cheers... Bence
kidblast
Lovely!!! The Gibson P90's are really great pickups - a bit on the noisy side as are all single coils, but they have a great bite to them and tone for days..
