Tronical Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Create a sound: Altough you have a lot of options, the creation of a sound (sound = tuning preset + piezo setting + PEQ setting + coil setting) is quite easy. How to create a sound? Pull MCK and select the tuning preset you want to use, e.g. Delta Blues . Strum the strings to tune this preset. Now rotate MCK to LED-C and press enter to access Chameleon Mode(Chameleon is active when LED-C is shining white). Check out all available coil switchings. Rotate MCK to - LED-E = Gibson Classic, Burstbucker both coils, P90H north coil - LED-A = Blues, Burstbucker both coils, P90H north coil - LED-D = Funky, Burstbucker both coils antiparallel, P90H north coil - LED-G = Twang, Burstbucker both coils parallel, P90H north coil - LED-B = Acoustic, Burstbucker south coil, P90H north coil - LED-e = L5, Burstbucker both coils, P90H north coil - LED-Arrows = Rock, Burstbucker south coil, P90H both coils - LED-#b = Metal, Burstbucker both coils, P90H both coils When you found your favourite coil setting, rotate MCK to LED-I to adust the Piezo signal. You can toggle between - no piezo = LED-I blinks red - regular piezo signal = LED-I blinks green - equalized piezo signal = LED-I blinks blue Rotate the toggle switch to blend in the desired amount of piezo signal. Nearly done. Last step is to select wether the pickup signal is equalized or not. Rotate the MCK to LED-PEG and toggle between - regular pickup signal = LED-PEG blinks red - equalized pickup signal = LED-PEG blinks blue That’s it. You have created your own sound! Here comes the trick. If you want to link and save this sound with the selected preset (e.g. Delta Blues ) press down MCK for 2 seconds. The message “Stored” appears on the MCK. Whenever you select this preset (e.g. Delta Blues) all other sound components (Coils+PO+PEG) are switched automatically. Coil Switching symbols Each pickup is represented by two lines, because it has two coils. The north coil is the upper line the south coil is the lower line. The burstbucker pickup is displayed on the bottom the P90H at the top of the MCK. Green line=switched on Red line =switched off White line=anti parallel Blue line = parallel String Up / Down mode: When putting on new strings, Dark Fire can automatically ‘string itself up’ by using the String Up Mode function. This is the only practical way of stringing Dark Fire, as the Powerheads can only be turned very slowly by hand. The use of manual or mechanically-powered “string winder” tools is not advised, because turning the Powerhead keys too quickly can cause damage to the Powerheads! String Down Function: -pull out the MCK and turn it counter-clockwise until the #b symbol is illuminated blue -press the MCK momentarily twice and the dot will shine red to access the Red Bank -turn the MCK to the revolving arrow position -press the MCK and hold it until Dark Fire starts to unwind all strings -push down MCK to turn off. -release the locking nuts on the tuner posts and you can easily remove all strings. (Single) String Up Function: Guide each string through your tailpiece, over the center of each saddle (where contact is essential), and through the nut slot, and then straight through the post hole. Pull a slight amount of tension on the string, and tighten down the locking nut on the post hole. Cut the extra length off each string close to the post so that they will not make contact with other strings, as that would cause the system to function improperly. Also, do not use any strings which have frayed wraps at the ball end, because that could short circuit the Data-Transmitting Tailpiece. It will not damage the Tailpiece, but Dark Fire will not function if any part of the string touches beyond its insulated holder. -pull out the MCK and turn it counter-clockwise until the #b symbol is illuminated blue (Blue Bank) -turn the MCK to the revolving arrow position -press the MCK and hold it until a green “arrow” symbol shows in the center of the Display Matrix -release the MCK. The Revolving Arrow LED will shine blue and all the string LEDs will shine green -turn MCK to the e-LED, it will shine red. -press the MCK a few times in succession, the corresponding Powerhead will start to turn and place tension on that string. -once there is enough tension on the string for it to deliver a pitch turn to B-LED and repeat, then to G-LED and so on.. -single String Up Mode can be performed for more than 1 string during the same operation -Note: Single String Up Mode does not target any pitch, so be careful not press the MCK too many times, or the string could snap from over-tightening. For E, A and D press MCK 2-3 times, for G, B and e press 3-4 times. Tronical You play. We tune.
