NGD Casino

Used Casino has made its way to me. I'll be taking it into studio tomorrow to go nuts with pedals and volume and find its gain limits using my gear. I love finding new (to me) guitars, but cleaning em up is something I could do without, but dont feel right unless its done. I vacuumed the case with baking powder and a light dust of febreze to take the chemical funk outta the case. Also stripped the guitar and did a light alcohol wipedown to remove sweat and oils of previous owner. Oiled the fretboard and learned that if the black coloring in the F holes is not cleanly done, you can remove it with alcohol!

Pulled the pickguard and installed a Les Paul switchring because I saw one elsewhere and liked the look. She sounds throaty enough through my Champion600, but tomorrow we go Princeton, then Twin, then add the Fulltone OCD and get crazy!

HNGD to you!!!

Now I'm wanting to get the Casino's out and play them this week!!

All the Casino talk is getting me ready for some hollow body playing. It may be a good thing as I need a lighter guitar on the shoulders this week anyway.

Spent the afternoon with the new to me Casino, a Champion600, and a DRRI. The Champion is ok at home, but it doesnt compare to a Deluxe Reverb! Red turned out to be a little more sensitive to feedback than my Gretsch Tenessee Rose, but she DOES enjoy higher gain than I thought! Looking forward to running it with the rest of the band!

  • 3 weeks later...

Just picked up one of these myself - a mint '07. Love this Casino! I had been on the lookout for a used one in natural, and I found this one on CL this past week, and couldn't be happier ~

Very nice. [thumbup] [thumbup] [thumbup] I've always wanted one in cherry but that natural finish makes me think twice. So many choices. :-k

Thanks - Yeah, I've been on the lookout for a used Casino in natural for awhile now, and when I spotted this one on CL for a great price, I couldn't resist!

And sans pickguard, a la Mr. Lennon.....

Needs to be cleaned up a bit, since the guy I bought it from lives on a boat, so salt air had a bit of an effect on the screws, bridge, etc.... but hardly noticeable. Definitely needs to be restrung, i think the guy had the original strings on it, and it's an '07!!

Nice. Did the case come with it as well?

Yes it came with the case and was a very low price. The guitar was filthy and the strings were rusted! The picture is after I cleaned it and did a few repairs.

Ha! Yes, obviously a week for CL Casinos! I feel like I stole mine, too - a mint '07 with hardshell case, for what I thought was a pretty good deal ~

Mine's an '07 as well, and came sans pick guard, but I probably would have taken it off anyway - as it seems most of the natural ones go naked..
