hegazi0
hey am gonna buy a used gibson les paul but it's with dot markers unlike the rest of gibson les paul i used to see to i wanna know if it fake or not and also the space between the bridge and the pickup is it a normal space or not thx :)
lovethosegibsons
Looks like an early 80's les paul studio. They came with dot markers. The body should be slightly thinner also than a regular standard. That's what I'm guessing without more pics. Spacing looks fine from this pic. lovethosegibsons
The early 80's les paul studio was an affordable les paul standard without the trapzoid inlays and as I remember little thinner body. It looks to be the correct tobacco burst which these models had. If you could post pics of the back and headstock would be nice. I can't remember correctly but maybe a store had a limited run made of these few years ago. They are great playing guitars and I use to own one back in the 90's. But yea more pics would be great.. BigKahune
. Welcome. Bad pic. Dots are okay in early 80s. BUT - the position of the controls looks wrong to me - big red flag. <edit> The closed upper bout meet the neck on an angle, that's not right - another red flag. . BigKahune
. There will probably be a couple other members who will offer an opinion - and I think the consensus is going to be fake. .

To me the radius of the upper bout's bass side seems incorrect, too, and I think the size proportions of headstock and tuner mounting positions are critical as far as can be seen from this single picture. lazarusvt84
Bridge volume knob waaay off (to far forward towards pick guard)....that's what I check for first.
Jon S.
I'm not able to tell for sure in the pic, but it also looks to have a 3 screw truss rod cover.
btoth76
Hello and welcome to the Forums! This is obviously a fake! The body shape itself immediately tells it's not a genuine Gibson. And there are a lot other details that are very wrong! Good that You've asked around before You bought it! Cheers... Bence
LarryUK
The curve where it meets the body at the pickup selector looks at too much of an angle to me. You need better pics really.

I'm with the others,, it don't look kosher.. despite the pics.. the immediate red flags were the controls and where the top bout joins the neck. charlie brown
Sorry, it's bogus! For all the reasons, already stated! Please...buy from an authorized Gibson Dealer, or someone you KNOW=TRUST! There are a LOT of "Fake" Gibson's nowadays, and especially the "Les Paul" various models, and espeically on E-bay and/or Craig's List! If you want a Chinese/Asian Les Paul copy, for a great price...get an Epiphone! You'll have a great guitar, at a great price, with a decent Gibson/Epiphone warranty, as well. Please, again...do NOT support these huskters, con-artists, with your hard earned money! CB
