BigKahune
. The finish on this one looks like a Tri-Burst to me, or what Gibson is currently calling Sunset Burst, not a Tobacco Burst. But that could be the lighting making the gradient fade between brownish and yellow colors look red. It's also a "Custom Shop" model, for whatever, if anything, that adds to the price this seller settled on. Is it possible this is a CS with an adi top? . It's officially a tobacco burst -- Hogeye explained the model code (mentioned in the ad) the last time Wily asked about this guitar :) : old thread -- Bob R
onewilyfool
Yeah, I forgot about that last thread, that one was a private seller, and this is a dealer. I don't know if it has the same model number, but Gelb Music in Redwood City, ca, has an exact spec one NEW, cheaper than this one used. Forgive me if I get confused with all the different models of the J-45, they seem endless and repetitive, and most are just the same horse, with a different color. I'll try to be sharper next time!!! Still can't figure out why this one would be so expensive used???
BigKahune
. Yes, I caught the old thread. Just commenting on the red showing in the seller's pic. But the seller says it's a CS, and usually there's something different from the normal production model on CS versions. Since the seller didn't make it clear, just curious what it might be that's different - tone woods, cosmetics? I notice the headstock has white button tuners and just a Gibson script logo. <edit> With just the script logo on the headstock I was thinking 50s. Here's a 2009 J-45 Custom Shop 50s reissue - looks the same right down the red in the (sunburst) finish - http://www.sheltonsguitars.com/2009/8-1-09/gibson-j45-cs-50s-ri-8-1-09.html - which probably accounts for the higher price.
