charlie brown
I'm getting so away from "pedals" anymore...it's almost "frightening!" The older I get, the more "back to basic's," I seem to be going...in almost everything! CB

CB Lol, yeah im not a pedal freak either.. I have a Wha Wha that ive had for years (which I should use more) a looper and a Big Muff (that I never use lol and have only had for about a year)... I do have fun with the effects built into my Boss Mini 4 track thingy and always enjoy that.. But generally I like built in distortion and reverb in my amp and that's all I need :)
charlie brown
Well, they're interesting, and "fun," but, for what I do, anymore...beyond a good OD, Wah-Wah, and in my case a Boss Rotary simulator, and a Compressor -Sustainer, for the 12-string...I don't bother with them. And, even so, they're only used very sparingly, for just those certain songs, that need them. Also, with ALL the plethora of pedals offered, by so many manufacturers, anymore...they (seem to) all sound quite alike! At least, to my "OLD" ears! LOL HOWEVER...as Lee mentioned, in the demo, if you are into creating different ambiences, and interesting sound scapes, for recording, or just playing around with...they're Great! bonzoboy
There are more than enough distortion/fuzz pedals flooding the market now so their new pedal doesn't make me want to rush out and buy one. The modulation type pedal looks like it may have some possibilities but not enough innovation and features not available on other pedals.I was however quite impressed with the echo as it was very lush and gave a surreal type of ambiance to the effect but then again my rack mount Ibanez DM-1000 Digital Delay can get the same type of effect when I combine its signal with a hint of chorus. I didn't play the whole video, just the first 7 or 8 minutes of it to just get a general overview of each pedal, whether or not they found more interesting and useful sounds and functions in them I don't know but from those first few minutes, nothing really turned my crank. You guys are right about pedals, there are so many on the market that perform what essentially are the same functions. The only time I get enthusiastic about pedals lately is when I come across something unique and really in a class of its own such as the new BBE Sonic StompSonic enhancer,The TC Electronics NM-1 Nova Modulator,-which combines several of the most desirable modulation effects and allows almost infinite tailoring of their tones ,the Tech 21 NYC RotoChoir- which is the closest of any pedal I have heard that can emulate the sound and even the quirky idiosyncrasies of the real Leslie and possibly the Way Huge Green Rhino which is the best overdrive pedal that I've tried yet. BTW I forgot to mention the Vox V-847 HW hand wired wah wah which is the closest any wah wah pedal has come to nailing the tone of the old Vox Clyde McCoy signature wah wah. NHTom
I like their term "Luxury" pedal........that sums a lot of it up for me. A lot of pedals are cool one off effects that I personally just wouldn't use enough to justify purchasing. I'm still in the process of getting all my pedals I want, but it will be simple......tuner, wah, eq, od/boost, and maybe some sort of chorus/vibrato/delay(TC Gravy?), and a reverb although I'm satisfied with my amp's reverb for now. The older I get, the more I just want my "one tone" to come through and let my playing adjust for different songs, etc. On the above review, I do like the distortion they were getting, might try one of those out locally. I'm guessing you haven't tried any of Geoffrey Teese's RMC Wahs? I love em. I guess I'm not fitting into this group here as I literally have a few hundred pedals. I've been reviewing pedals for the past 10-11 years and in order to make comparative reviews (such as the most common question I got was "how does this overdrive compare to a tube screamer?") I ended up buying a lot of the off the shelf stuff to be able to write specific comparisons. If I had a nickel for every time I got asked that My advice to most players was fairly straight forward - if you're just at home playing for your dog or goldfish - something off the shelf will fit your needs just fine. If you're gigging - there are definitely some, what you guys call "luxury" pedals, that did deliver cutting through the mix (for my lead solos) better than a lot of the off the shelf stuff did. Just sayin I respect what works best for everyone as an individual player though and if you're happy with your setup, I'm happy for you. It's all good! CB I hear yuh, CB.... I used to have Phasers, and Flangers, and used to use some distortion pedals, etc. Then, I got to a point where I just wanted a "crunch" and not much else. Today, I use (have) a Boss Digital Delay/Reverb and I just bought a Boss Blues Driver. Other than that, just a Compressor/Sustainer and a Boost. That's it! jdgm
I like pedals too. These are obviously next-generation digital and someone will like and use 'em, they'll become 'normal' use in a couple of years I should think. But you cannot beat 'proper' un-processed guitar tone! I like that maroon super-tele. I know Lee...the captain?...Uh...? I suppose he is now. I worked in Anderton's briefly during the 80s and later had a short-lived arrangement whereby when they sold a beginner a guitar, he would get a lesson with me. What I got was the goodwill (hah!) and a potential new pupil. I lived in that town and made good money as a guitar teacher - better than many London guys - for some years before the ACM opened....sorry I digress. These must be the prelude to true foot-controlled sound morphing!! Or do we have that already?
Dub-T-123
Sorry, Dub...that one stays, right here! CB If you ever decide you might not use it anymore please keep me in mind! I've made a bunch of copies of those and love them. I just want the original! Do you remember the old Maestro Fuzz Tones? I got a really cool clone of one built for me and that's what I've been using lately. If you turn down the attack knob it does an amazing fuzzy boost/overdrive sound

Probably traded it off, on some other "new" thing, back then? CB
