Markus1
Ok, so this is round two, needing advice on getting myself an SG. I have the serial number on this guitar and its a 97, I believe its was made on march 24th at the nashville plant. I am trying to figure out what this thing is worth, one member on here recommended looking at sold ebay listings but I can't find this thing. I have seen another forum where a guy's dad managed to get him one identical to this for $500.00, the only other two were on a french website. Is there another model I can search for that would give me a decent comparison? Searching "limited edition SG" for example doesn't help much since the various limited edition models seem to vary greatly. With the uncovered humbuckers and dot inlays I guess it resembles an SG special? Does the fact that it's "limited edition" actually raise the value over a normal special (if I'm correct about that). I just don't want to pay more than necessary because it says limited edition, if limited edition is just another thing they stamp on a guitar to make you think there's something unique about it, or make you think it should be worth more money. Also, would a 97 model be a "good year"? I've read on some sites about Gibson doing weird things on some years with less than favorable results. This guy will take $700.00 for the guitar. Assuming this thing isn't banged up in the back (looks ok on the front from the pics) can anyone tell if that's a good deal? Doesn't have to be a steal, I just want to make sure if I buy this thing I can expect to at least get close to what I paid if I ever decided to sell it. cjsinla
I don't know much about this particular type of SG but the dot inlays and un-bound neck might suggest more of a budget model. Do you know if it was modded? I mean did it originally come with humbuckers or P90's?

kidblast
Hi Markus, Agree with Bence - 700 is reasonable. If you're not object to the absence of neck binding, this is probably a better option that the other SG we talked about in the intro forum. Regarding the question posed in the other thread that I missed, the classic has dot inlays, with binding around the fret board I got mine in I think 2006,, back then they were selling new for $999, (bought the SG case as they came with a gig bag, and that added another 90 bucks to the purchase. it's a great axe..
