jameswithesg Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 so ive read in multiple places about the angles of gibson headstocks on both les pauls and sg's, ive heard about 19 degrees, 17 degrees , etc... ive heard they have changed because of tuning, neck breaks (due to mahogony grain line) and i was wondering, whats the best/strongest angle that gibson has done? what other measurments are there?
BIGBENDS Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I understand that most Gibson guitars made these days have a 17 degree peghead angle. That's probably the magic number.
80LPC Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Strongest LP headstock is probably the 14 degree maple one on the Norlin era Custom.
bryvincent Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Original Bursts were 14* nope, they're 17 degrees
80LPC Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I don't know the angle of this headstock, but if its a scarf joint it will be very strong. Admittedly, this headstock is not the prettiest design Gibson have come up with.
