Starchild
I have a chance to trade my 2012 Epiphone es-335 limited edition pro for a 2002 Gibson SG special (the one with the ebony fingerboard and crescent moon inlays) Does this seem like a good trade? Pros & Cons? Looking forward to your replies.
STEVIL
Without pictures your question is worthless. Sorry that sounds harsh, but without seeing what your trading for, we are left a bit in the dark.

STEVIL
I'd say go for it. Looks pretty clean to me, just all depends how you feel about parting with your Epi.

Not a problem bro', I cut my sentence short, went back and looked and it was pretty harsh - my apologies to you. Hope you stick around this is a great forum! I love the sounds in the Epi I just hate the size. I see how I feel once I've played the SG. Thanks!!

That's probably the way to go, see what the comfort factor is when you play the SG. Whatever you decide though, just make sure it's the right choice, and not one your going to regret later. Be cool! capmaster
Hello Starchild, welcome here! I remember a fantastic song by Level 42 named Starchild. It was the first song I recorded on Compact Cassette with my that time new HiFi on November 21st, 1981. That's probably the way to go, see what the comfort factor is when you play the SG. Whatever you decide though, just make sure it's the right choice, and not one your going to regret later. Be cool! Couldn't have said it any better. Good luck! capmaster
charlie brown
Is there no chance, you could come up with the money, for the SG, without sacrificing your Dot? They're two different sounding guitars! So, if at all possible, I'd keep the Dot, and just add the SG. If not...then, be sure it's what you really want to do. Can't tell you, the number of guitars I WISH (now) I had never parted with. Good Luck, on your decision! CB
sgplayers
I totally agree with Charlie. Welcome to the forum. you will probably miss the dot. especially if you have several recordings with the dot. you can spend hours trying to get that sound back and still not be happy. many wasted hours. disaster
It doesn't matter which one WE like best, all that matters is which one YOU like best. The SGs are plentiful, you can find one anytime. The 335s harder to come by. If you swap for the SG you can always decide to go back to a hollow body later, but you won't find one so easy. Happy Choosing
sg50
I play my Epi Casino more than I play my SG (50th ann. SG Standard 24), but I love my SG more. Maybe the Epi gets more play time because it is hanging on the wall next to me and the SG is in its case. I would trade my Casino for the right SG, but probably not for that SG. It looks like it's a fair enough trade (dollar for dollar, give or take), but I like that hollow body.
GibSinCity
Looks like the pickups have been swapped-out. I believe these came with open-coils. Could be a good thing. http://www.everythingsg.com/forum/gibson-sg/16544-ngd-2002-gibson-sg-faded-crescent-moons-ebony-board-questions.html

I am not. Give me 57s or go home
Jeff-7
If the 335 is too big but you love the guitar otherwise, why not shop around for a 339?
