kursal Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Hi, First post, so I should say hello to everyone but I have a really important question before the shops close for Christmas. Today I arrived home to find a brand new Les Paul Robot in Silverburst. It's wonderful but I have a really important question that I need answered. Is it meant to come with a power 'thingy'. I understand you plug a patch cable in the the charger which was supplied with the guitar. Unfortunately I didn't get a charger supplied with the guitar and was wondering if it was a misprint in the manuel or a mistake at the shop. If someone could answer this for me I would be most grateful. I'm in the UK in case that makes a difference. All the best K
Bluemoon Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I think there was a post earlier in the year in which someone was complaining that the Robot guitars in Europe didn't come with a power "thingy." I think it was Daveinspain...Dave??? Can you help this guy?
jrnic Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Maybe it's got something to do with the voltage differences between Europe and the U.S.A. Gibson might not have any of those chargers for the European market so they just don't pack it in there when they know it's going overseas.
kursal Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 Ah, thanks for that. I found the post but it confused me a little. I assumed that the guitar would either come with something or be easy to get an adaptor for. Does anyone know how I can charge the guitar? What do I need to get this working?
kursal Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 OK, so I read through the original post again and this is what it said: First of all, in Europe, the wall adapter is not included! Only the charger part is included. Now, the wall adapter should be something I can get hold of but I don't have the charger part either by the look of it. Looks like I shall need to contact the shop to see where that part has gone. Thanks for everyone's help by the way :-)
kursal Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Another quick question. Is there anyone in the UK on here who has a robot guitar? If so could they confirm what they got with the guitar please. The shop told me they didn't know anything about the charging unit and I can't seem to find one to buy from anywhere at all. I have an adapter which will work and various patch leads from pedals so those should do the trick. I did notice that thomann (in germany) are selling a patch lead and plug as a charging kit: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gibson_robot_power_set.htm
Flight959 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Did you buy this guitar new? This has been a regular question since the robots came out.... Where in the UK are you? Where did you buy the guitar from?? Regards Flight959
kursal Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 I did buy the guitar new and I bought it from Dawsons over the phone, I think they're in Warrington (http://www.dawsons.co.uk). I am in Gloucester.

Bluemoon Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 You need to call the store and demand the charger. If you don't get any help, call Gibson in Europe.
daveinspain Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 My Robot guitar came with a charger.... It works in 110 or 220 so its good for the US or Europe, you just need to get the adapter plug so you can plug it into the English style wall socket. I bought my Robot in Boston and had it shipped to Spain so I have the US version which did come with a charger. I have heard that Robots built for Europe do not come with the charger, I don't know why but thats the way it is.. All you need to do is buy a 12v DC output transformer and your good to go...
kursal Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Brilliant, thanks Dave, I knew someone would know :) I have a 12v adapter already so I just need the charger bit. @Dynadude I did call the store actually and they didn't think that they came with anything, hence asking people here who I thought would know. The shop have been very good actually and have promised to call Gibson for me when they open again after Christmas. Once again, thank you to everyone who has helped out.
daveinspain Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Dave' date=' I knew you had the answer. Thanks [/quote'] Actually I thought you did have the charger unit and all you needed was the power transformer for it... The charger unit should have come with the guitar so if it dd not they owe you one.... I´m at work now so when Í get home I´ll snap a few pics to show you what should come with the guitar...
