Izzy
WTF? the guitar has a knob that changes the tuning? How does it do that and why does it seem......unnatural. I mean, it sounds good but a bit fake? I love the idea because I have songs in different tunings and it would be great to just turn a knob but... o.O I wonder if this is how my gramma felt about the microwave? The Fender VG Strat (now the Roland G-5 by Fender) did/does this too, although it doesn't have as many options as the Variax. Basically the sampling and modelling circuitry is buried in the guitar rather than in a pedal. The VG has a Roland pickup near the bridge, but I think the Variax does everything with its standard pickups. The Variax has a custom jack to supply power, while the VG uses a standard guitar cable and 4 AA batteries (which last about 2 hours in real life usage)in the guitar.
