Jimmylaz Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Hey all, my SG took some "lean on the wall" falls (yes i need a stand) and the metal casing on the D string tuner came off. In the pic Im holding it on, it stays on if Im delicate with the guitar but eventually the whole string gets out of tune and/or that piece falls of. Can I just super-glue back on or is that bad? Thanks, Jimmy.
jimmiJAMM Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 That might keep it on temporarily but you should consider having it professionally repaired. That's what I'd do. Probably an inexpensive fix and should last.
dickey Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Here's an idea! Why not just replace the tuner!
guitarbob123 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 i think you have to buy a whole set if you want to replace it. you know its really not that bad unless you've broken the headstock or something
lakehaus Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 If that were mine, I'd remove the tuner, gently press the cover back where it's supposed to be (vice grips), and solder a corner or two lightly (heat the metal, run the solder along the seam of the case). Careful not to apply too much solder - don't need it boogering up the gear. Short of that, search for someone selling a single tuner that matches your set. Or, you could just leave it alone.

You're right about it not being that bad but the string now goes out of tune every 5 minutes which sucks.
