Gibson Les Paul Traditional

Recommended Posts

Hello Folks,

I'm GASing for a Traditional, whats the street price for these babies ? any recommendations ? Does the 2013 model still have the laminated Fretboard ?

Hello HNSFury,

best for getting price infos is searching the web for a dealer near to your location or in your country.

I know nothing new about Gibson fretboards, so I do think they still make laminated ones. I assume that my LP Traditional 2013 has it, too. However, it plays great and sounds just like a real Les Paul should do.

Thanks Capmaster

I come from an acoustic background and there are many acoustic dealers that can give you up to 40% off MRSP, I was just wondering if we have something like this for Gibson electrics.

Cheers

To my knowledge it is about the same range, although it always depends on model, colour, country etc. The Traditional is a top seller, especially in Heritage Cherry Sunburst which I went with, too, and therefore they may count off a few bucks less.

I bought a beautiful 'scratch and dent' from Zzounds.com. They usually have a few of those, probably returns, in the $1700 range. Also, the guys at Wichita Band used to sell everything at 40% off but they do not take returns for cash, they only give you credit on your next sale (at least that's the way they did it to me a few years ago.)

No more laminated fret boards, I believe. If it bothers you avoid 2012 serial numbers, remembering some 2013 models were made in 2012.

One thing to keep in mind when checking out these USA Gibson's is to make sure that nut is cut properly. I recently purchased a Traditional and had an issue with the high e string slipping of the edge of the fretboarding and "pinging" in the against the binding that comes up over the fretwire. I luckily had mine repaired under warranty here in Canada by Long & McQuade. Anyways, in no way am I taking a dig at the craftsmanship or quality of the Gibson brand, things get overlooked and people are human, just something to keep an eye for when you're making your purchase. I love my Traditional, the finish, the feel and the ****in tone!
