deepblue Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Does anyone else here feel nauseous after playing video games? They look like such fun, but every time I try and play my daughters PS3 after about 15 mins or so I feel sick to my stomach and have to lay down.
rocketman Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Here's an article on it. It doesn't happen to me but then again I haven't played video games in 20 years. My son is getting a Wii for Christmas and I'll give it a try to see if I still have my "video legs" for playing without getting nauseous.
myspace.com/jessenoah Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 what video games are you playing? i only play sports or violent videogames that suck my mind but nothing else really
harmonicchaos Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 hmm... that is a bit unusual... For some reason i've never been able to get why people like video games so much... about all i like are card games (EUCHRE!!!) and a few boardgames... (btw i'm 14... so it is somewhat abnormal)
Dynadude Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 It's like motion sickness. I only get it with split screen games, or when I try to play a system hooked up to a very large screen. Try viewing the game through a smaller screen, or, you could take some Dramamine. (SP) Motion sickness med.
MikeRom Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Does anyone else here feel nauseous after playing video games? They look like such fun' date=' but every time I try and play my daughters PS3 after about 15 mins or so I feel sick to my stomach and have to lay down.[/quote'] Yep, I'm with you there brother, especially those first person shooter HALO type games. Doesn't matter which system either.
Thundergod Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Does anyone else here feel nauseous after playing video games? They look like such fun' date=' but every time I try and play my daughters PS3 after about 15 mins or so I feel sick to my stomach and have to lay down.[/quote'] ...I feel the same way! Specially with ist person games (like silent hill for example), I cant play more than 20 minutes bacause I feel causeous, I play on a 52 inch screen at less than 12 feet, so maybe it has something to do with that...
Murph Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Video games make me sick too. But, I don't play em'. I kill real animals with real guns. Then I cut em' up into pieces...... And eat em'........ Murph.
deepblue Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 Im glad im not alone. Its too bad because they look like alot of fun. Its not worth me having to go to bed for a few hours afterwards.
Californiaman Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 It's related to motion sickness. Similar to what astronauts experience when they're focussed on a task while zipping around in space.
guitar_randy Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I don't play video games. My kids do tho. They already have been on game too long and had blood shot eyes and felt strange. I think video games are not good thing.
zachd33 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 videogames are the one thing I do almost as much as playing guitar. I have been playing since I was 4 and now I am almost 24, never once got sick.
grampa Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I'm an old guy. I never got into video games. I would try one, be impressed with the graphics and then wonder what they deal was. The last one I liked was Pong and it was only a space saving alternative to air hockey. I guess I like the human interaction in playing. I also don't see how being shot at by heavily armed bad guys is "entertaining". There's nothing really fun about gun fire and explosions when they are aimed at you. The air guitar hero thing looks kinda silly, it's nothing to do with making music as far as I can see. I think if playing video games makes you sick, take the hint, it may actually be bad for you.
RichCI Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I think the last console system I bought was Sega Genesis so it's been a while since I've played anything like that. Over the past 10 years or so, I've been into online mmorpg games and currently play World of Warcraft. Those types of games are less twitch oriented and the graphics aren't as flashy.
Thermionik Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 deepblue - you are not alone. It happens because the visual stimuli suggest you should be moving, but all other stimuli confirm you are stationary. Worst with first person games where you 'run around'. Simple solution as espoused by Tommy Cooper's Doctor..... Tommy - Doctor - video games make me nauseous. Doctor - Then don't play them.
Boston004681 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 that used to happen to me, but i picked guitar and know i dont play games as much. Now, when i do, i dont get sick. The most recent game system i bought was a PS2.

(SP) Motion sickness med.[/quote'] that counts as DRUGS in my opinion. The only safe DRUG out there is probably tylenol. Is any one else really annoyed by all of those DRUG commercials. "side effects may include, dizziness, constipation, THE RUNS, ....... It's all dumb.
SRV-Zeppelin Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Only happens to me when I play Halo 3, which was once at a friend's house. I generally don't play video games; I used to have a Wii but sold it to fund my guitar habit. sigh...
djroge1 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I think only old people get sick from the games... Just how old are you guys?
