may1620
So, I've been wanting a Sunburst Casino with Bigsby for a couple years now. I am aware that Epiphone recently produced this guitar as a limited run, but I've not come across one for sale new. My further research indicates that the Bigsby edition was based on the lowest tier, or $599 Casino. Would it be nuts to buy a brand new Vintage Sunburst Elitist 1965 Casino, and then drill it to install a new B70 Bigsby? You know, like Paul's? And George's, actually. It seems like if I have to go to the trouble of tracking one down, buying used, etc., I might be better off with a sweet MIJ example instead. I should disclose that I have a Natural Elitist 1965 Casino and enjoy playing very much. I put a reproduction rooftop strap on it, but have not yet removed the pick-guard or swapped out the tuners for gold.
Cinos Repus
I don't think it would be nuts at all. Several people on here have added Bigsbys to their Elitists. Bigbys rule! If it were me though, if I was putting one on an Elitist, I'd probably spring for the sand-cast MIUSA B7 insted of the Bigsby "licensed" B70. Although there's nothing wrong at all with the B70's. You are right, the B7 looks great.
Axelorox
I was thinking of doing something like this too. Is is possible to remove the black color around the Bigsby logo so you're left with just the metal?
Dennis G
My Elitist Casino before: My Elitist Casino after; I could not be happier, and this is, without a doubt, my "go to" guitar. Edit: I got the B7 from Amazon at about <$30 less than "retail".

clarkuss
Better to buy a 2nd hand MIJ and add a Bigsby than buy a new MIC with Bigsby IMO. Superior guitar... plus you can opt for the superior B7 which will keep the value of your casino high if you ever do need to sell... I wouldn't buy a Casino with a B70 personally. Just looks a bit naff to me.
Dennis G
Beautiful guitar, Dennis. Thanks Pat. It's kind of funny, because the tobacco burst is probably my least favorite guitar finish ever, but the Elitist Casino is such an icon (thanks Beatles) that for some reason it just felt right. It's just a joy to play and after the B7 was added, well, it was just icing on the cake. This is just an absolute superb guitar and will be in my right hand when the house catches fire. clarkuss
That's going to be a wicked guitar. Can't wait to see the results! I know a guy here in Glasgow who put a B7 on his 1965 John Lennon Reissue so don't feel bad about drilling into the guitar. You'll be in good company.
