Bender 4 Life
I love mini-hums, and the 9pc. nech thru is mighty tempting....so are the Steinberger "fine" tuners. any real issues w/these guitars yet? QC issues, mfg.mistakes, anything to make this guitar NOT worth the $ ? c'mon ....lemme' hear it! i'm less than 2 weeks from pulling the trigger on something in this price-range and i'm torn between the F-Bird 13, and the Elitist Casino. what say ye? Blueblooded
I say play them both and see which one you really want. They are two totally different animals. I've played a few new Firebirds at local stores and they are awesome. I have seen no issues with them whatsoever. Definately my next guitar purchase. Versatile
My Firebird is a little older...banjo tuners 'n all Love it to bits... And the nearest to a Casino is the ES 330...love it to bits also... Two very different beasts indeed...suited to different musics... Although the Stones used both to great effect Having both would probably dispense with the need for any other electric guitars... V
Eades
hit and miss finish on the white ones, hit and miss nut jobs but the tuners are excellent and the picks ups sound awesome
sharky007
I have a 13 50th Anniversary, the finish is strange, you can see the grain almost through the gold and the nitro around the edges is almost orange peel. the Steinberg tuners are awsome. The guitar sounds amazing and plays like butter. I saw 2 other the same as mine and the finish looked the same on all of them.
PingPongBob
I bought this one a couple of months ago. As EADES says the finish around the edges are orange peel. Sweetwater offered to replace it or give my money back, I took it to two different guitar techs and both said 99 of 100 come that way. I decided to keep it since you can only see the blemishes in the real bright lighting. I'm glad I did. It's a sweet player right out of the box. I absolutely love the tuners. Back in the day I had a '76 Bicentennial Firebird with the natural finish and the red white & blue firebird logo on it. I don't remember anything wrong with the finish on it. Wish I still had that one. It was my first Gibson.
rct
Back in the day I had a '76 Bicentennial Firebird with the natural finish and the red white & blue firebird logo on it. 8th Street Music in Philly had one behind glass. I wanted it so bad my head hurt. rct

The new tuners are good, they stay in tune well and manageable. A little getting used to, but they work well. I just got a brand new 2010 V Firebird in vintage burst. Man does this axe have Balls! Grog
I've had a 2012 for about a year now. At first, I didn't like the idea of the Steinberger tuners, but reading the reviews on this guitar, that was the main thing owners were raving about. I gave it a try & like it as well. As far as finish flaws, Firebirds & Thunderbirds seem to have more flaws than any other guitars, by my observation. It must be because of the raised center block making it more difficult to buff? I've seen some that were horribly flawed & some with only minor flaws. I never see Les Pauls or SGs with the same issues. That part aside, they are great guitars! ochomatic
I have an older one with Banjo tuners. Haven't tried the new tuners but I hear good things. The Bird is a different animal. I had to play it for a while before I gigged with it. Its not my main guitar but it has the perfect sound in some venues. Plus it is just about the coolest ever.
