fcescgb
Hello everybody! I just FINALLY found my perfect match last weekend, a Songwriter DLX Studio (no cutaway), after many months searching for the guitar of my dreams (I was between Martin and Gibson, and maybe -just maybe- Taylor). I have a very quick question. My headstock (front plastic under the crown) does not have the word Studio engraved, as I have seen others do. It is a 2009 model, does that explain it? It has an ebony fingerboard, though! GREAT! No rosewood fretboard. I believe Gibson is back to ebony fingerboard for this model for 2013. If anybody can please send me comments here as 1. What kind of strings the guitar comes with from factory? 2. What are the best strings for this guitar? 3. Anything else! I am really in LOVE with this beauty, and it plays wonderfully from day one! I couldn't be happier! I hope this beauty serves me well until we do part... THANK YOU ALL! AND THANKS GIBSON FOR THE LOVE OF GUITAR MAKING! telemaster03
Congrats on the new guitar! I've been looking at those lately as well, the deluxe non cutaway version with ebony bridge and fingerboard. I hope the guitar brings you many, many good hours of enjoyment. BigKahune
. Welcome. Songwriter Deluxe Studio is a great looking guitar. How about posting a couple pics? Ebony - yep, here's the spec sheet from the website - http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Acoustic-Instruments/Square-Shoulder/Gibson-Acoustic/Songwriter-Deluxe-Studio/Specs.aspx . No mention of the factory strings - I'd guess Gibson Masterbuilt PB or 80/20 in the 12 guage set. I've recently acquired a Gibson rosewood guitar but haven't yet gotten into trying strings on her, so can't give you a good rec. Congrats on your new Gibson. . B) . duluthdan
New Guitar ! Yeah baby, hours and hours of fun. That "front plastic under the crown" is the Truss Rod Cover (TRC). Many / most are blank. Classy. But if you need / want it to say whatever - you can always find a custom engraved one here for about $20: http://www.terrapinisland.com/chitzenitza/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=17&products_id=
EuroAussie
Martin SP Lifespan 80/20's is what worked best on my old SWD.

SWD
Gotta love those SWD's! I have used Elixer lights but find Daddario pho/bronze 12's sound best for me.
