daveinspain
Then there's this, same LP as above. This track features a screaming lead by none other than Jeff Beck. Pure 100% Beck!

Jammin' Joe
Some songs can effect your mood just from the opening notes. This one always does it for me. Robin's guitar and James' vocals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgPosG8xYSk Another is this part of Mountain Jam. BTW, thanks Californiaman for starting this post. That version of Nutshell is great. Izzy
When I hear Michael Jackson...there was a time I just loved the songs and I focused on the music but now I feel so sad...even the upbeat songs that make me dance make me a little sad. I wonder how long it will take for his death to stop haunting his music... I have not written in a long time. When I have, though, I pick certain "soundtracks." It may be 13 Ghosts by NIN or an anime soundtrack...I don't like lyrics in the way of my mind's dialogue. ALL songs put me in a certain mood...I mean, there are no songs that do not affect my mood. I play fun pop to wake up if I am groggy, for example. If I am missing my ex I play More than a Feeling by Boston and I get to feeling better...and worse. Even songs I don't like get me to feel something. Justin Beiber songs make me shake my head and chuckle or frown at the state of pop...

bonzoboy
's I have always loved Jimi's "Drifting" and "Pali Gap" from his Cry of Love album-great music for quiet pensive moods.Of course the beautiful Adagio from Mozart's Violin Concerto Number 3 in D is one of my absolute favourite "quiet and pensive" pieces.
