SC signature model w/ no signature?

Hi, all-

I just received a new Sheryl Crow Country Western signature model (a 2012 build) and I'm impressed with it so far. One thing that surprised me (and disappointed me a little bit- I'm not usually a big signature model fan, but considering this is one, I expected it) is that mine doesn't have a signed label. Every other example of this model I've seen has had a white label inside signed by Sheryl Crow. Mine has the traditional orange label with typed serial number, model name, etc. Anyone know why it wouldn't have a signed label?

Thanks!

The signature was probably a facsimile signature rather than a "real" one, so you haven't really lost anything. Signed artist models are generally limited edition runs for which significant premiums are charged.

nope. they are real signatures. On a trip to Bozeman, they sat her down and she signed a bunch of labels. They may have run out when they made yours, or perhaps she missed one.

Thanks for that clarification, Keith. I thought they were more likely similar to the signatures on Martin's regular Clapton models.

1. Cep - I'll trade you labels. All I wanted was the instrument when I purchased mine. edit: darn those #s!

2. In an interview 2012, she swore all signatures were by her hand. Wow.

3. I did not pay a premium for mine. That much is for sure!

4. Very nice guitar! [thumbup]

Thanks, all. I appreciate the responses. I don't really care about the signature, just was kind of surprised there wasn't one and wanted to make sure it want indicator of any other differences in the guitar. It is a pretty cool instrument. Now I just have to decide whether I can justify keeping it *and* the Dove. They look/are pretty similar in some ways, though so far I don't think they sound *too* much alike...

Congrats on the new guitar!

Do the SC and the Dove have different serial numbers on the labels? If so, that is enough justification to keep both in my eyes! [tongue]

Thanks, Silver!

Yep, just checked and they DO have different SNs! (I like the way you think ;)

They actually each do have totally different feel, and character. The SCCW's hog is a good foil to the maple of the Dove. Beyond that, just putting different strings on each can make them even more divergent. (Speaking of strings, the SCCW had some sort of coated string on it and I just replaced 'em with Pearse New Mediums. Huge difference for the better!)

Congrats on the new guitar!
