charlie brown
Rubber Soul, and beyond showed their musical maturing, and experimentation, now doubt! However, IF you were fortunate enough, to grow up with their music, from the beginning, even the early stuff ("Bubble Gum" as some of it might seem) was just outstanding! I remember the first time I head "that chord" for "A Hard Day's Night," or the opening riffs, for "I Feel Fine," and Day Tripper, Paperback Writer, etc., etc., etc.! Got "goose bumps" then, still do! Their songs put a smile on my face, then...and, they still do that, too! Beatles music is "Timeless!" CB
Kaiser Bill
Impossible for me to choose only one. So.... Dr. Robert, You Won't See Me, Yesterday, Long & Winding Road, This Boy, No Reply and on and on........
rct
For me it is the complexity under the simplicity of Penny Lane and/or Hello, Goodbye. They fill the headphones but have plenty of air in there allowing you to hear all around each instrument. So it's a tie for me. Three way tie, yeah, Day In The Life, can't forget that one. rct

I did grow up listening to the Beatles, remember as a kid being in my upstairs bedroom building plastic AMT model car kit and listening to the SW & AM big console radio (w/ turntable in the middle). As I started to get older (about 40) I gravitated away from the White Album on days and back the other direction (when the drug sound started to get heavier in their work). Just me, but I'm with CB on the really old stuff, it WAS rock 'n roll "and I like it!" Aster

I have no idea either. I am very curious about this instrument. Unfortunately, we haven't got one in shops here. It must have very sensitive pickups, otherwise it would be really painful to make it sound. Cheers... Bence

COMPLETELY blown away! And was amazed with each album on their maturity as musicians. They truly were greater than the sum of their parts.... Paul needs John to not be so "bubblegum", and John needed Paul to not be so dark. George lent a mystique and musicianship the others couldn't. quapman
I had to google this guy. Never heard of him before. Thanks for sharing Bence Robert Culbertson. Check him out on youtube. Looks like he's been playing the stick as long as it's been around. I sure don't get out much. No hijack intended but since it's a Beatles thread. cookieman15061
Growing up with them and loving everything they did I find now days I lean more toward the unusual. Things that really never got radio play but were excellent songs anyway. Sexy Sadie, Two Of Us, For No One, Julia and There's a Place are some of my favorites. fretplay
Some interesting replies guys. Quite a few of you said 'Rubber Soul' for a favorite album which has 'In my Life' on it and 'In my Life' was the choice of the BBC Radio London listeners. It certainly surprised me as a a Londoner. Only Zigzag got it right and he is in USA, well done sir!
