capmaster Posted September 24, 2013 Share Posted September 24, 2013 As far as I can see, this is a fifties wiring with the capacitors connected to the volume pot taps which are the outputs to the toggle switch. In this kind of circuitry, both tone pots attenuate both pickups when active together, regardless of the volume pot settings, and there will be a resonance with the volume pots cranked up only. Obviously this guitar was rewired to the fifties circuit which is mysteriously favoured by many players (sorry, Bence...). Since I am more of a down-to-earth guy, I prefer the both theoretical and practical approach, and so I like the capacitors connected to the hot side of the pickup, volume pot or pickup selector (on Fender Stratocasters) which except reissues is stock since decades for guitars with the same number volume and tone pots each. I own two Gibson guitars and four Gibson basses with more volume than tone controls, and I dislike the coarse effect of these tone controls when volumes are turned down a bit.
