twalker
I've seen these come up NUMEROUS times before. Turns out that Ebay says their a complete fraud. This 'seller' hijacks other peoples sites and lures in unsuspecting bidders with tempting offers. If you contact the 'seller' via email they claim that they need your Ebay ID in order to go ahead with the transaction. Totally bogus. Here's two guitars that have come up multiple times VINTAGE 1960 Gibson J-200 Acoustic Jumbo Guitar w Maple & Original Brown The 'seller' says that: "The item is listed somewhere else if you want to purchase the item you may buy it now for US $ 2,500. To buy it now please contact us directly at veromaneaby629 @ gmail.com. If you bid on the item you will not be able to but it now at $ 2,500 Buy it now contact at veromaneaby629 @ gmail.com. The item may be removed if I will get the asking price" Here's the other one that's being listed. Vintage 1952 J-50 The lesson to learn here is that one should never communicate with a seller outside of Ebay once the item is listed there. That's not my rule.. that's Ebays. GotTheSilver
Very true. I have seen this many times. And, yes, it is Ebay's advice to never contact a seller outside of the Ebay methods. If you do, I believe no buyer protection applies.
jannusguy2
I always report these to ebay as soon as I see them.

That guard on the SJ sure looks authentic tho doesn't it ?...I know they may put original guards on copies .
zombywoof
Thanks for the heads up. Fortunately one of my little quirks is never to spend more than a couple of hundred bucks on a guitar I have not held in my sweaty little hands first. While it may require more than a bit of patience it does tend to keep me out of trouble.
BluesKing777
Stands to reason that people that will diddle old grannies out of their savings right there in front of them will have a field day on Ebay where people send you money before even seeing the item! The English/Euros will know what I mean when I mention Arfur Daly! BluesKIng777.

jannusguy2
I don't know which is more egregious, the out right fakes up for sale or the a-holes with pics of real Gibsons that have been purloined for use in phony listings.
fortyearspickn
I think the egregiest are the slime balls who steal guitars from performers to whom said guitars represent a livelihood.
