Bottleneck On My 37 Gibson L-0

I did a few tracks with some slide on my 37 Gibson L-0.

The guitar is a bit schizophrenic - great for ballads and standard tuning blues, but then I put it in Open G tuning and played some slide and well......that's what they are all about.

Sensational!

I kept playing and then did some recording and only came up for air because it occurred to me that I was....Hungry!

I had a quick go at Robert Johnson's "Terraplane Blues" - Cars, Guitars, Bottleneck etc all in one tune:

.

I bet you are soooo glad you popped on that little killer. . [thumbup]

I am, I am!

I have been looking at all the sites and the prices for a nice L-00 or L-0 have been steadily climbing as long as I have been looking! (Like houses in a rising market - you may as well buy instead of thinking too long, or....) That is why I originally bought my Blues King.

Whoever took the Gibson logo off and stripped the black finish must have had a real good reason to lose money! The English would call them, among other names, a "Silly Sausage". So I have a guitar that sounds the goods, but looks a bit ridiculous, except it didn't cost very much in the scheme of things.

I am already gassing, perhaps even more now, for an L-00 in original condition! The man can't be stopped, can he? Mad guitarist. How would ever explain to.....never mind?

Oh Oh. Be happy with what ya got, sonny and all that!

Just had another listen BK

Wicked man !!!!!! ( that means cool by the way for any American cousins ;) )

You've been back for another bite!

Thanks Del!

Apart from the guitar, I am loving my A&H mixer with USB straight to the iMac. All EQ controls are flat and someone that knows what they are doing would be horrified at my settings, I am sure, but it shows what a good little mixer it is - just my Shure SM57 on the guitar. Mixer was about $(Aust) 400 on special and the mic I have had since they were invented, but new are very reasonable $120....

I am going to glue all the setting with superglue - I like things the way they are.

I thought I would mention it in case you are looking for a nice unit - in theory you could use the same arrangement live with the addition of a powered speaker. Mine is staying exactly where it is - superglued to the desk and iMac.........

I still have your version of "Walkin the Dog" and "I'm your Ace" on my iPod and had it cranked at work the other nite and a guy asked me what artist and album it was. Lol! Keep it up and once again thanks for sharing!

Thanks very much, Aero!

Hee Hee Ho Ho.....

That 'Walkin The Dog' sure is a shoe sticker, isn't it?

I was thinking my 37 Gibson L-0 needs a name! An old warhorse like this one needs a name and the original owner of most of it's life probably has one, but I didn't get it.

The previous owner probably had a real good name for it when he hit those 5 really bitey frets!

Any ideas?

I was thinking "Georgia"......

Tone with a capitol "T". That things moans when you lay in with the slide. And you are making the jump from folksinger to bluesinger, if you get my drift. Sail on.

Thanks for the reply, Rambler - much appreciated!

And so far, it looks like being called "Georgie" - thanks BBG. It has started to stick........
