old mark
Got this one last winter, and have not yet found all it can do. A very versatile players' guitar, and well worth owning... Mine is the satin yellow, finger board is rosewood, not maple. P 90's sing! Very enjoyable to play, and have had NO problems or complaints at all with it. Do you have one? Want one? Like it or hate it or what! mark
nick_s
That's a sweet looking guitar there fella. Never played one, but I should get round to it, I love a fat single coil sound, so I am pretty sure I would love a P90.
jaygl
It's a badass looking guitar.......now I'm gassing. Hows the neck profile on those.....slim, rounded, or50's or 60's? If you can get 'em rounded or 50's, I may have just found my next one.....they aren't still in production are they?
cjsinla
Those are out of production but you really can't go wrong with two P90's. They are great pickups. I have two SG's setup like that and have gotten lots of positive feedback from the people who hear them.
Rabs
I have a double cut version in cherry red... They are amazing guitars.. The P90s are Great and I think they have one of the best neck profiles going.. its probably the most fun to play of all my guitars as its so light

Sort of a C shape, very comfortable for me...Not as fat as my 1999 SG neck's, but not too skinny, either. Looks like a bone or corian nut. overall a good solid guitar with nothing you do not need and everything you do. Fret board is supposed to be rosewood on this one...I think the current ones are BM, but they look great and play just the same, IMO. I have seen them for sale earlier today, so I guess they are still in production, and I HOPE Gibson is smart enough to keep them. I heard that LP Juniors are on hold right now, but these are still going...Added - the ones selling now have HB's rather than P90's, but there are a lot of the used P90 versions out there... You can get all kinds of sounds out of these and they are very hard to beat, IMO...I'm not much for the fancy extra stuff, and this really fits me just right. Here's the GIBSON GUY with a Junior Special P90 demo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o87pIWtvZb8 mark
JAC
I love the way P-90s sound! I don't have a guitar with them yet. I have regular single wounds (Strats,Teles) and, humbuckers.

jimmyl51
My question is this. The historic Les Paul specials come as they were originally made in the 1950's without the tunematic bridge whereas the USA version has the tunematic bridge am I correct here? jim in Maine
old mark
this page has a good pic of a '50's Special Double cut, with a top wrap bridge/tailpiece. Personally I am very happy with the TOM bridge on mine...I do occasionally play up the neck, and the guitar sounds really beautiful when is is fully in tune and intonated. hawkfanatic
Have a '11 just like the OP's cept vintage cherry gloss. I've bought a number of Gibsons and Gibson style guitars over the years and i end up selling them pretty quickly cuz i'm a fender guy and they just don't feel comfy and the sound just doesn't have the same almost acoustic like quality when you turn them down like a Fender. Enter the LP Jr special. I bonded and big time. I wouldn't sell this guitar if i live to 100. the P90's are just the most incredible pickups, and the flat top plus tummy cut make it almost as comfortable as a strat, much more than a tele. If you are a Fender guy who can't seem to bond with a Gibson, trust me....this is the Gibson for you. If I could bond with it anyone can ! Oh, and like someone else mentioned, the neck is just about the most perfect carve I've ever felt.
