gotomsdos
Hi, folks out there. There is 2013 J-35. I find it has "banner" ! Does vintage J-35 have "banner" ?
zombywoof
Nope, not that I have ever seen.
tpbiii
Nope, not that I have ever seen. I don't recall any either. Their production did continue at a very low level into the banner period, so a few may exist. Best, -Tom

Best, -Tom I have not seen many but a year or so back I went to check out a 1942 J-35. It did not have a Banner. But as Tom says with Gibson you never know. The only thing consistent about Gibsons during these years was their inconsistency.

By now, nobody but you saw a banner vintage J-35. Really ? Are you sure that J-35 is really a vintage (not a reissue like 2013)?
zombywoof
I assumed he was talking about one of the modern versions and not a vintage (note - I did not say "real deal") instrument.
mking
The real vintage J-35s did not have a banner. They had black headstocks with the Gibson script logo painted on in white.
Mojorule
I have seen some vintage L00s advertised on ebay and from online shops with banner logos though. Are they fakes, John?

As I point out in my book, L-00s and L-50s inexplicably and occasionally got Banners. I know of no other exceptions. But, Gibson being Gibson .... But, Gibson being Gibson .... I must have missed the mention of the L00s. I think you included the L50s in your table of all banners produced, didn't you? I don't recall the L00s being inventoried.
