New Amp Day

Hi,

I've just bought a Yamaha THR10, and I have to say it's one of the best guitar purchases that I've ever made, which is quite suppressing considering I tried one 12 months ago and described it as a "tinny little box" (I bought a Blues Junior instead). A few weeks ago I happened into a music shop and heard a member of staff playing with a THR5 and thought it sounded great, so I thought I'd give them another look. Now I think the Yamaha does a better job of a Blues Junior sound at home volumes than the Fender does!

The THR Editor software allows you to make unbelievable choices, you can even set which type of speaker cabinet you want to use.

I was tempted by the new THR10C which models "boutique" amps (but not the THR10X which is high gain heavy metal amps) but decided to go with the vanilla THR10 because I thought it would give me a greater variety of sounds. Since I got it I haven't been able to stop using it, plus there's an added bonus, it makes an unbelievably good IPod sound system, I was going to get a Bose one, but the Yamaha's as good, or better than any of those that I've heard, so I've killed two birds with one stone.

Hey Ian. I got one of those also back in the spring. It really is an awesome little amp. I hadn't really played "plugged in" for a very long time, but once I got that amp it became so easy and I didn't have to worry about disturbing the rest of the house. I started playing through that little amp more than I had played in years.

Unfortunately, Ive since fallen into a musical rut and haven't even picked up the guitar in about 2 months. Maybe I should just force myself to plug in to the THR10 and it will kick start me to get back into playing. :-k

Enjoy the new purchase. [thumbup]

Hi Saturn,

Play with the software and find a few new sounds (try downloading the pre set files), I'm sure it will inspire you to play again!

Regards,

Ian.
