gov
guitar looks nice and while the placement is solid the firestripe on the guard itself looks awful. also like that there's no sticker in there and no "custom shop" logo on the rear of the headstock. j45nick
guitar looks nice and while the placement is solid the firestripe on the guard itself looks awful. I have two guitars with the modern Gibson firestripe pickguard (L-OO Legend, Fuller's 1943 SJ). The pickguards are garish, and bear only a passing resemblance to a "real" vintage firestripe pickguard.

Is that because it is a "lost art" or does it have something to do with the difference in material - the originals being celluloid and the new ones plastic. BluesKing777
I like it but it looks a bit expensive. Sweetwater often have very dark photos and backgrounds for their wares, and I did notice that they advertised and displayed an old Gibson Blues King with the long scale for years, instead of loading the newer model. So their photos may not actually match their stock. BluesKing777.
BigKahune
.... So their photos may not actually match their stock. .... AFAIK, the photos posted by Sweetwater are of the particular guitar for sale and posted with the particular guitar's serial number. So are you saying they use stock advertising photos or that their photos are not accurate due to the lighting? .

Gio
I'm curious about this guitar. The text says "while the back and sides are constructed from pattern-grade rosewood" but the specs list: "Solid mahogany back and sides, for exceptional clarity". As for the pickguard: I'm ordering a celluloid firestripe pickguard from Terrapin to change the one I have on my 75th Ann. Advanced Jumbo which looks out of place on the gorgeous sunset burst top... gov
here's a new one-- This material is not Celluloid like the old ones were. This is 2-part resin and is more stable than the vintage material.
GotTheSilver
nice pickguard placement : http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HL32VSNH JC For that price, why wouldn't I just buy a Legend L-00? You can get a mint condition used Legend for around $3k! And the Legend is full hide glue!
